Best things to do in Kasol and sightseeing in Kasol

Kasol is situated among the lush green pines of the Parvati Valley in the stta eof Himachal Pradesh. This place happens to be ideal for those who wish to laze around and pass the weekend sipping on some steaming cups of tea while watching the beauty of nature unfold before one’s eyes. The Parvati River flows through the place making it a must visit destination for tourists. If serenity is what your body and mind craves, then you ought to plan a trip to Kasol sometime soon. The fact that there are quite a number of suspension bridges here, make one want to go on long strolls here.

Parvati Woods Cottage - Kasol

This is the best location just about 4 kms short of Kasol. Close to the road from Bhuntar, a dense forest shields it from road. A perfect spot to get down and start absorbing the place.

Chhalal - Kasol

Chhalal is 20 - 30 walk distance from Kasol, best place for nature sight seeing and trekking.
Trail from Kasol. 20-30 Minute walk. Climb down to the river for the Hot spring right after crossing the bridge from Kasol. 11th October: Getting around Kasol Next morning we woke up at 7 and with packaged food and some fruits in our bags decided to take the trails around Kasol. The first one led us from back of the German Bakery (oh, the truffles!), by the stream that flows through Kasol and into an open field. This is where the much talked about Trance festivals happen, though when we walked past through it was completely clear with hardly one or two people strolling down the little field, as we moved further in, the greens got greener as the it started to drizzle, completely unprepared we put our caps on and kept walking down the trail the banks of the stream, lush with mosses and algae. After taking a quick dip (and almost freezing) we moved further in, finding it hard to take in so much of nature all at once, we halted further upstream and stared at the mountains (typical, we know.) as we kept moving further away from the village, the variety and colors of birds went on increasing. Unfortunately, lacking a telephoto and the know-how of bord watching, we merely awed at their beauty and after around 11:00 decided to turn back and after lunch at Kasol took the trail towards the Chhalal. Meeting a Sadhu by a hot water spring on our way to Chhalal we decided to accompany him into his cave which was surprisingly warm (courtesy: hot water spring). We reached Chhalal around 20-30minutes later and walked down to Kasol through the main road after pit-stopping for Chai. We stayed up late into the night following Dinner and Bon Fire by the River at the hotel.

Katagla Forest Retreat - Kasol

Across the river and about 1 km from Parvati Woods Cottage is this gem hidden in a forest next to Parvati River. While Parvati Cottage is the place to get down and enjoy the environment and the views, this place is the one that acts as a base for adventures big and small. Cafe Mari Vanna is part of this property and serves great stuff. While staying at Parvati Woods Cottage, our dinner used to be here only. One can walk to Kasol through a jungle (3.5 kms from this retreat) and along the river, away from the traffic noise. Next, one can take a half day trek with a guide from the retreat itself. All wood, slate and stone, this is a neo-classic Himachali construction

Alpine resort - Kasol

Just on the vbanks of the beautiful Parvati River in the Kasol Region of the Kullu Valley, this is a holiday resort in the most dreamy location. The foggy surroundings, awesome climate and the spectacular views make the perfect package for any tourist. The rooms are very basic but are very clean and comfortable on the other hand. The staff are very cooperative and friendly and all other basic services are appreciateable here. This is also one of the very few holiday resorts in this particular region.
10th October: 2:15 PM- Reached Kasol We reached Kasol, after a two hour journey from Bhuntar. Divided to Old and New Kasol by a Bridge, Kasol felt a tad bit too quiet in after the hullaballoo of the bus. But the silence was soon taken over by trance music emanating from the many cafes that lined the lanes of Kasol. After looking around the town and walking up and down a stream of Parvati we decided to check into the Alpine Resort, which was right beside the River, and a little away from the Main road. After refreshing and keeping our bags, we decided that the seventeen hour journey did call for a power nap. In the evening we woke up to a cool breeze blowing by the river, and multiple rounds of chai as the conversations with people staying at the resort started spooling and switched to and fro between the enormity of the hills and our own little lives.
