Translating to 'the gift of the forest' in the native language of Tamil Nadu and originally home to the Palaiyar tribal people, this modern city has been a retreat long since the 19th century. Kodaikanal Lake - Kodaikanal

The main attraction of Kodaikanal is the Kodaikanal Lake. This is a very big and clean lake and the main activity enjoyed by everyone here is boating. You can also hire bicyles here since the rocky terrain is good for adventure bicycling. Also, the scenic beauty is worth admiring and this is also an apt place for photographers.
Everyone who wants to enjoy cycling around the most serene star-shaped Kodai lake and enjoy the camp fire in the vicinity of Palni Hills Wildlife Sanctuary must give this one a shot!

So the usual thing to do would be boating, Mom and I choose to walk the circumference of the lake instead, tons of eucalyptus trees make the place smell heavenly, most trees have the scientific name and a bit of trivia written on them. We came across a Sai Baba temple too.

Vattakanal - Kodaikanal

A very beautiful hill station just a couple of kilometres away from Kodaikanal, this is a place you can visit throughout the year. The temperature is low throughout the year and thus do not forget to carry warm clothes whenever you go there. The rocks and watchpoints here are places from where you will get the best views of the surrounding valleys and mountains. The main points here are the Dolphin's nose and the Suicide Point.
It's everything Kodai offers (I would argue to say it offers more) after removing the throng of tourists that has changed the very landscape of culture of the place. Called the Little Israel of India, it houses some of the most beautiful locations I've ever had the blessing of visiting. I wish now that i had a pen and paper to document the places we visited. We stayed the night at a little lodge and got to witness what was easily the most stunning sun rise yet.

A mere walk of 5 minutes, this is a watchpoint in Kodaikanal. More than a walk tourists love to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the surrounding sceneries from here. Since Kodaikanal is at a high altitude, you can get spectacular views of about 2000 ft if you look down. The surrounding mountains and valleys with the lush greenery and the view of the foamy waters looks awesome. The cool breeze brushing your face and the colourful, wild flowers geowing around you make it a memorable exoerience.

Pillar Rocks Kodaikanal - Kodaikanal

These are natural rock formation in the kodal District and though there is nothing much to do here, tourists still flock here in search of peace and beauty. You can get the most spectacular views of the surrounding beauty and the misty surroundings look heavenly. The clouds seem to be at a hand's distance and the cool feeling of these are an attraction in themselves.
Pillar rocks are a group of rocks in a pillar formation. You can view this from a specified location. It depends on the luck if you are able to view it or not because of the clouds. We were lucky as the cloud cover just reduced when we were about to leave. Also we bought some carrots which were really tasty to eat.

Bryant Park - Kodaikanal

Very close to the Kodaikanal Lake, this is one of the most beautiful parks you will find in the city. The sheets of colourful blossoms and the combination of frangrances with the sweet colours make it all very pretty. This kind of a place can instantly bring a smile to anyone's place. The best time to visit is of course a little after the peak time of summer as this is when the flowers are at full bloom. Other than that also, this is an ideal place to enjoy lazy walks and to relax.
It is delight for any botany lover. We went in the right time during spring, the flowers are really beautiful.

Laws Ghat Rd - Kodaikanal

As you go to Kodaikanal, you will see how difficult the terrain is and you will also be pleased to sea such a motorable road uphill. This road plan was suggested by G.C.Law who was an engineer and the man behind such a difficult task. It was because the villagers had to face a lot of problems whenever they wanted to go somewhere and so the road was made. The name was put after the engineer as a mark of honor and remembrance and thus the Law’s Ghat Road.

United-21 Resort - Kodaikanal

This is a 3- star hotel in Kodaikanal District of Tamil Nadu. This is like a silent valley in the heart of such a busy town. The hotel is more like a mansion and the rooms inside are very comfortable to stay in. Every facility provided to the guests here are up to the mark and the food is standard too. This is overall a good place to stay in.
The view from this resort is one of the best in Kodaikanal.

Kurinji Temple - Kodaikanal

Located close to the Chettiyar Park, this is an old temple dedicated to Lord Murugan. Lord Murugan is the common deity worshipped here and in this temple he is known as Lord Kurinji Andavar. Kurinji or Neelakurinji is the flower which grows here once in 12 years and this is after which the name of the deity is given. Other than the idol of Lord Kurinji, you will also get the idols of the 9 Planet gods or the Navagraha in this temple. The temple is on top of a hill and from here the view of the surroundings, especially the Palani Hills is awesome.
Hills, trees, forest.. and amidst them a beautiful temple.. What else we can expect! Not to forget the beautiful handicraft shops that just got me awestruck.
