Sulthan Bathery - Mangaluru

When I started travelling, I got glimpse of being a human being! I see how people live out there, how they are happy with small things, the level of satisfaction and the way of living. A simple question, how many of us had collected dry woods for bonfire? How many of us had made a tea on that fire and how many of us had cooked food? I guess, very few. But what about the people for whom this is the way of living. Preparing a “home” by using dry leaves and wet soils for wall. I was very lucky to make my hand dirty to make a mud pot. I can’t explain in words but the joy was much more than clearing my master’s degree. We are surrounded with such beautiful and kind people. We think the World is not safe out there but this is only fear. Once we step out and experience then we realized the world is much bigger and beautiful than what we think! I only wish if I could get wings to fly. Eat where you find, sleep where you get the place and fly where you want!! That’s why I Travel!

Sulthan Battery Ferry Line - Mangaluru

This is a quiet place with the remains of a Fort and a Jain Temple which is also almost in ruins. This fort once belonged to the powerful Tipu Sultan on top of which you will still find a canon fixed and it is just on the banks of the river. This is from where the name Sulthan Bathery or Sulthan Battery originated. You can also boat across the river and reach the forests on the other side. Here people are very rustic and their main occupation is practising Ayurveda. They are very humble people and would tell you all about their work. You can also get some pure honey and medicinal herbs from the forest here.
This place in mangalore has a important role in the history of Tipu sultan and his war against the British. The light house here helped his army to keep any on the enemies attacking through the sea. The light house gives you the beauty of the Arabian sea.
