Best things to do in Panchgani and sightseeing in Panchgani

Deriving its name from the five hills surrounding it, Panchgani is a nature lover's delight. Popular for its stunning beauty, peace and serenity, Panchgani is a favourite weekend spot. A small trek to Sydney Point will offer you picturesque views of the Dhom Dam with the river flowing along the valley. Besides this, Table Land, situated here is the second longest mountain plateau of Asia. For everyone who is interested in history, Devil's Kitchen is a must visit. Located close to Table Land, Devil's Kitchen is said to have been home to the Pandavas of the Mahabharata epic for a while. The Pāndavgad Caves (near Wāi) are also said to be built by them then. Parsi Point is another interesting touristy spot. It is the windiest part of Panchghani and is a part of the road which leads to Mahabaleshwar. The other attractions here include Bhim Chula, Harrison's Valley, Lingmala Point and Rajauri Caves.

Terra Camp Resort - Panchgani

Situated on the Bhilar- Akhighani Road, this is a camping site with a difference. This is a camping resort for people who are looking for a slightly different experience at low costs. They have beautifully organized tents where you are supposed to stay and these tents have everything from beds to cupboards and washrooms. Now this is actually called camping with a luxurious touch. They also serve you food which is very Indian and very traditional too. This perfectly suits you during the bonfire experiences you have here during the night time. you can make new friends during this camping experience and have fun together.
We had booked the farmhouse only for 1 night, and for the next day we had booked a tent at Terra Camp. We started our journey to Terra Camp from Shivsagar Farmhouse at around 9:30 AM. The roads were small with a very picturesque view of the Ghats so we kept driving for around an hour when we got a feeling of being lost. We reached a lovely spot where it was a small road, just enough to for one car to pass with valleys on both sides. Finally we thought of turning back only to realise we had one turn pretty early in our journey. Thanks to absence of signboards. Soon we got onto the right track and reached Terra Camp. It is speciality lodging site where-in you get to stay in tents. We spent entire time exploring the areas around the camp and relaxing. I would have loved to spend couple of days at Terra Camp rather than visiting the points at Mahableshwar. It has a lot to offer in form of treks and other activities. It’s a different experience altogether. Next day early morning (6:00 AM) we started for Pune, capturing the beautiful sunrise on way back.

Shivsagar Farmhouse - Panchgani

A popular name not only among tourists but also among the locals, this is a highly developed hotel in the Bhilar region of the Panchghani suburbs. The hotel is at a very good location and especially very close to the Bhilar bus stand which acts as an USP for it. The nearby attractions can be easily covered such as the Ganpati temple, Strawberry Farm, Jain Temple and the few beautiful waterfalls. The hotel provodes all its guests with two types of room options- executive and deluxe. Other than that they have a 24 hour help desk as well tourist desk, wifi as well as wired internet facilities, regular pest controls and a lot of parking space. The food served is also very good and you get standard traditional cuisine too. The name of the inner restaurant is the rain forest Restaurant and this is also loved by whoever has stayed here.
After relaxing for some time we decided to check-in into the hotel (Shivsagar Farmhouse in Panchgani). I have to mention that this place is complete value for money. The suite room is super spacious, the staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. What else do you need.., oh yes, they have a strawberry farm of their own too!

Table Land - Panchgani

This is a flat laterite rock structure which is also rated as the second longest mountain plateau in Asia. This is probably the major most attraction in Panchghani. From this vast stretch of land you get specatcular views of the surroundings and also get telescope facilities out here. There are a number of horse takers and tonga drivers who can take you on rides. The rates are a bit high so you have to do a lot of bargaining. There are also a few cave temples around and this place is also popular as a walking path as well as a picnic spot.
This place is simply beautiful. The serenity here makes you forget all the buzz in your life. Peace surrounds your heart. If you have friends to accompany you, that is just a cherry on the cake.

Wai - Panchgani Road - Panchgani

Wai - Panchgani Road is best road known for road trip Wai to Panchgani.
We started from Pune (Pimple Saudagar) at approximately 5:30 AM. Super wide and smooth roads ensured I was able to consistently maintain speeds around 90-110 kmph on my bike. 2 hours continuous ride and I saw a KFC board but unfortunately it was to be opened only at 10 AM. So we took a half hour break to have breakfast just before taking the right turn from the highway towards Wai. As soon as we started our drive on the Wai- Panchgani road, we could feel the coolness in the weather. We headed straight to Mapro Garden for a 2nd round of breakfast which included the awesome sandwich & irresistible Strawberry with Cream (Never miss this.)

Asia Plateau - Panchgani

Situated in Dhandegar in Panchghani, this is an international conference center which was set up in the year 1967. The main activity of this institution is giving training and grooming sessions to people from schools, colleges or industrial and army backgrounds. They work as an NGO and ultimately work towards the betterment of the society by helping develop skills in talented youngsters. As a tourist also you can visit this place and know more in- detailed information and also take a look at how the volunteers work over here. There are a number of people working here and are from various countries. This is also a good way of globalizing and utilizing skills from all over the world in a very good way. They also have an open platform with iron railings where you can stand with fresh, cool air brushing across your face and take a panoramic view of the surrounding sceneries.
Anybody who will visit it might just lost in the admiration of the natural beauty. We were introduced to the Asia plateau family and made familiar with the campus on the first day. We even trekked to the table land which was a beautiful experience in its own. Our whole task was to free ourselves, by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty.”
