Best things to do in North Central Province and sightseeing in North Central Province
Kuda Bandos - North Central Province
Kuda Bandos is indescribably beautiful, tiny and virginal considering the fact that it is largely uninhabited. This island oasis with its exotic fauna, white sands and lush palms is a quintessential picnic spot and a paradise for water sports enthusiasts. Kuda Bandos is the perfect escape and will, no matter what, cast a spell on you.
If you're looking for a 'marooned on an island' excursion on your Maldivian holiday, Kuda Bandos will be worth a visit. No matter how many times I've been here it always has the wow effect, every time. The water couldn't get any bluer, the sand couldn't be any softer and the sound of the waves gently lapping against the beach couldn't be any more relaxing. To get to Kuda Bandos arrange a picnic trip from your resort or hire a private transfer. It currently costs $11 entree fee to be payed on arrival at the island. If you are not part of a picnic excursion, there is a small bar that serves cold drinks, beer and some snacks. Top Tip: (from a german) As soon as you get there grab yourself a sun lounger,
Holiday Inn Kandooma Maldives - North Central Province
If you are looking to experience life on a private island, you can consider doing a resort excursion of your choice. You may check with various guesthouses and what resort excursions they offer. The price will vary according to how luxurious the resort is. Usually how a resort excursion works would be - you pay an entrance fee to the resort that you are visiting and some resorts may impose a minimum spend for the day for each person visiting. You will also need to pay a return transport fee to the guesthouse for sending and fetching you back to the island.
W Retreat and Spa - Maldives - North Central Province
The only place I've ever stayed where you arrive by seaplane. On its own private island in the middle of the Indian Ocean, this resort is one of the world's best. From the luxuriously-appointed, spacious interior to the decadent indoor/outdoor open-air bathroom, everything in this thatched-roof slice of heaven was first-class. But the real WOW-factor still awaited just outside the glass doors…a sundeck featuring a private pool, barbeque grill, lounge chairs and a circular daybed for lounging the day away in style. And as if that wasn’t enough, just steps from the pool on the other side of swaying palms was our own private stretch of sand complete with umbrella, two more lounge chairs and direct access to the sparkling clear blue lagoon. WOW, indeed.
Lemongrass Fifth Restaurant - North Central Province
This is my Favorite restaurant in Male. I've eaten there so many times, they've given me a discount card. The Restaurant has an air-conditioned Downstairs, but we always favour the Semi Open Air area Upstairs or even right outside on the Balcony, where the Fruit Bats do their evening rounds. It's like an encyclopedia of Thai food. I could study it for hours before I decide what I'm going to have. I ordered a Tom Yum Steamboat, then I had one of the fried whole fish dishes. The side dishes are Garlic Water Spinach and Green Papaya Salad. Two of my 'Must Haves' in any Thai Restaurant. Once again everything was lovely.
Aïoli Restaurant - North Central Province
I have been here many many times and cannot fault their food. The menu has a mixture of delicacies from all the various Asian and European cuisines, competing for your attention. There is definitely something for everybody. Creative Salads, comforting Pastas, exciting Curries, Vegetarian Food, fresh Seafood, juicy Steaks and local Fayre. I personally went for the Hot and Sour Soup with Prawns. I love it, but if you are not used to the chillies it will give you hickups! One great thing that I like alot about Aioli, is that they will accommodate your taste for degrees of spicyness. Just tell them how hot or mild you like it and they'll do it.Which makes me think, why don't restaurants have a scoville chart type rating for dishes. ... Make mine an 8 out of 10 please

Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa - North Central Province
Now, after two nights at the extraordinary W Maldives, I have to admit I didn’t have high expectations for our room at the Sheraton. I mean, I knew it would be nice (they always are) but I didn’t expect to be wowed. My apologies to the Sheraton Maldives for underestimating them, I couldn’t have been more wrong. Recently, the Sheraton added 20 new luxury villas and I was fortunate enough to be upgraded to one. The villa’s design was elegant and contemporary with clean lines and calming colors. It was similar in size to the W retreat and more importantly, it had a truly outstanding terrace outfitted with private infinity pool, lounge chairs, hammock and the tranquil sound of crashing waves. Once again, the first word that came to mind was, WOW.
