First we will see the Burned Column that was erected by Constantine the Great in the 4th century. Then we start walking through the streets of the city towards the Roman Hippodrome where there are several monuments built during the heydays of the empire to ornate the center of the Constantinople such as Egyptian Obelisk. Then we walk by the undisputed masterpiece of the Ottoman Empire; the Blue Mosque of 17th century. Right after we pass by this beauty, we come across Hagia Sophia, one of the 8 wonders of the ancient world. The building was first used as a cathedral then converted into a mosque. It is a museum today. Following a nostalgic cobble-stoned street, we walk through the famous Soguk Cesme Street where we can have an idea about the typical residences of the people during the ottoman era. At the end of the street we arrive at the Topkapı palace that was the house of the Sultans and the functionaries employed to serve the royal family as well as seat of the government. It is a huge palace with 4 gardens juxtaposed with each other. As we proceed through the first garden on our way to the Archeological Museum with a massive diversity of the expositions of finds excavated all over the empire. Later, we approach to the last station of the Orient Express that used to work from London to İstanbul gifted by the Kaiser Wilhelm the second as a token of the alliance between the Ottoman Empire and German empire. We finally come to the center of the city in the historic peninsula where life is very hectic and the reflection of the daily life of the locals, passing by the Bosphorus Galata bridge and Valide Mosque of 17'th century. We arrive at the entrance of Egyptian or Spice Market. This market is very similar to the main market in the city called Grand Bazaar but it has more of a local identity with a variety of gifts, spices, Turkish delights, saffron and many more delicious foods.
