Banihal Tourism and Travel Guide

About Banihal

After a long ride to Dalalachla on day 1, Day 2 we started from Dalalachla, we had plans to reach Srinagar as we wanted to stay at Daal lake (house boat). The Road was amazing till Jammu city, I must mention Jammu is a beautiful city. Once we crossed Jammu the actual ride began and we were on NH-1. We Came across a beautiful tunnel called Chenani- Nashri tunnel (it is also called Patnitop Tunnel) distance of the tunnel is 9.8 km. this tunnel save the distance of about 38km to Srinagar and it is Asia's biggest tunnel. After having good paratha and lassi we continued our ride towards Srinagar, Once you cross Patnitop tunnel the ghat section begins, it is one of the deadliest road and the condition of the road is worst due to heavy traffic and landslides. One need to very careful on this road. You will find lot of trucks and cabs on this road. And they drive horrible.????We almost got thrown out of cliff by a truck, somehow balanced and managed to hold onto bike. ????The Landscape on this road is so beautiful we were so excited to get into mountains⛰ and we felt that ride started getting better since the day one was total Tarmac and highway. When it comes to food on this highway you have lot of option like hotels and Dhaba's, I recommend to have Rajma/chawal with desi ghee while travelling in this part of Jammu, What an amazing food it was.Though we had planned to reach Srinagar, due to the road condition we could not cover the distance as expected and we ended our ride on day 2 in a place called Banihal which is about 70km before Srinagar.Stay tuned for the next Blog????Keep traveling guys we will meet on the road someday ????
