A World Heritage Site, Fatehpur Sikri is perhaps the best way you can spend your weekend if you are around Agra or Delhi. The fortified city is a great place for history buffs, photographers and explorers.
Though two days here may be a bit much, you can easily spend a day here exploring its many treasures. Do visit Panch Mahal and the Buland Darwaza located within the city. If you'd like to hire a tour guide, do make sure you have a conversation with him before hand, lest you are pulled into a tour without any information.
If possible, do also speak to locals there, just in case there are a few spots you can explore besides the popular sightseeing spots. For foodies, the Lake View Resort is a great option to enjoy an afternoon amidst nature and delicious food. Should you have more time on your hands, do also visit Sikri and the lively bazaar below Fatehpur Sikri. Not only does the bazaar make one happy with rows and rows of lovely shops, it reminds one of Rajasthan's colourful marketplaces.
Fatehpur Sikri is around 40km from Agra and can be reached by buses, taxis and train.
Best time to visit Fatehpur Sikri is from October to March
