Tangalle, one of Sri Lanka's underrated beach and also known as the silent beach is a must visit while backpacking Sri Lanka. Known among the backpackers in Sri Lanka for its peaceful, beautiful beach yoga life with a surprising element of psytrance parties. I would recommend atleast a 3 day visit over here after those nights in Mirissa and Welligama. Its a small coastal town and locals are very friendly. Having spent few days there, I understood the impact of Tsunami over their lives and the locals were very friendly to share their stories with me.
Tangalle, is located in Hambantota District, southern part of Sri Lanka and also referred sometimes as the silent beach of Sri Lanka. We took a Tuktuk ride from Mirissa to Tangalle and stayed in Copernath Hostel which is right in front of the beach. You can also find amazing homestays, hotels and resorts in Tangalle closer to the beach at a very affordable price. I was also in Sri Lanka when Atman festival was happening. Atman festival is one of the famous psytrance festival that takes place closer to Tangalle. Tangalle is also know as Tangalla.
