Japan Tour Packages

Japan has grown explosively in regards to its tourism in recent years. The country’s wondrous sights such as Mount Fuji and Tokyo Skytree, rows of cherry blossoms, cute cat cafes, Buddhist temples, intricately designed gardens and many peculiar cultural trends have caught on with the rest of the world making Japan tour packages one of the most sought after in the world right now. It could be owing to the large exposure that anime and Japanese television dramas have had recently or that word is finally getting out about just how gorgeous this island really is. There is an intriguing charm to how technology and modern aspects are fused into the heritage and cultural underpinnings of Japanese society. The result is a melting pot of experiences sometimes futuristic in nature and sometimes conservative and traditional. These experiences feature heavily in Japan tour packages to create a unique trip for visitors. Read on to figure out how you can make the best of your Japan tour package.

Japan Highlights

A volcanic archipelago situated in the Pacific Ocean, Japan encompasses over 6000 islands. However, it is divided into five major islands: Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, Shikoku and Okinawa. These islands consist of several destinations which add immense value to your itinerary. A notable highlight of your Japan tour package will be Tokyo. Japan’s capital, the city is an ideal blend of everything you might hope to explore when you book your Japan tour package. Its high-tech facilities as well as its robust gaming and pop culture make it seem nothing short of a wonderland. Forming an undulating skyline are the impressively tall buildings of Tokyo, planned in a neat and orderly layout. The Tokyo Skytree and the Tokyo Tower are examples of such grand Japanese structures.

The architecture is interspersed with lush green forests and pink cherry blossoms. A few places you can visit to revitalise yourself are Setagaya, Shinjuku Gyoen, Ueno Park and Meiji Jingu Gaien. The Kabukicho entertainment district is Asia’s largest, and has many bars, nightclubs and themed cafes. Tokyo also has its roots attached to tradition. You can observe this when you visit Meiji and Sensoji shrines. Your Japan tour package should also have space for a culinary journey in Tokyo – its gastronomical brilliance is why this city has the highest number of Michelin-star restaurants in the world.

From the capital, you must head to Mount Fuji, which has informally become a symbol for the country. It bears noting that although the snow-capped volcano forms an incredible landscape from a distance, the climb itself can be dreary and challenging. Nevertheless, it has been a site of pilgrimage and a bucket list item for travellers since centuries. The city of Osaka takes after Tokyo and is the second-largest metropolitan city in the country. It is celebrated as the nation’s kitchen. You must not miss out on a food tour here in your Japan tour package. Other than that, the city’s touchstone is Abeno Harukas which is Japan’s tallest building. It should be included in your Japan tour package as there are loads of things to do here – the complex comprises of a train station, a shopping mall, a museum and more.

The most incredible aspect of planning a visit here though remains Harukas 300, a three-level sightseeing point from where you get a spectacular view of the concrete jungle with a backdrop of hills on the horizon. Some other places you can add to your Japan tour package are Osaka Castle, Universal Studios, Shitennō-Ji Temple, The Tempozan Ferris Wheel, Tenmangu Shrine and Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan. In complete contrast to these two cities is the city of Kyoto. Deeply entrenched in traditions dictated by Japanese culture, this place must be in your Japan tour package if you wish to experience the country’s authentic lifestyle in the grassroots.

Nestled in the midst of mountains, the city functioned as the seat of Japanese emperors for eleven centuries and continues to be an integral destination on the island. It is home to about a thousand temples and is an ideal place to delight yourself in the joys of the transient seasons. Some must-visit tourist attractions are Nijo Castle, Kyoto Imperial Palace, Fushimi-Inari Taisha Shrine, Kiyomizu-Dera Temple, Sanjūsangen-dō Temple, Kinkaku-Ji and Nishi Honganji Temple. The Kyoto National Museum and Municipal Museum of Art is an excellent place to peruse ancient Asian artwork. Gion is a well-known district due to the residence of geishas here and famous temples such as Ginkakuji and Chion-in Temple.

The best way to get around the city is on a bicycle. It is recommended to go to the outskirts and delve into the countryside such as Hakone and the Izu Peninsula. You can arrange a stay at a ryokan, a traditional inn. A few kilometres away from Kyoto is Nara, one of the ancient cities in Japan. It houses some of the most splendid ancient structures in the world, seven of which are recognized by UNESCO as world heritage sites, namely Heijo Palace Site, Todai-Ji Temple, Kofuku-Ji Temple, Kasuga Grand Shrine, Gango-Ji Temple, Yakushi-Ji Temple and Toshodai-Ji Temple.

Your Japan tour package should definitely accommodate these locations as they tell an intriguing version of the country’s past, dating back to the eighth century. The Hiroshima prefecture is unmissable too. The best Japan tour packages will most likely choose the city of Hiroshima and Miyajima from here. While the city of Hiroshima with its Peace Park and Peace Memorial Museum serve as important reminders for why the country has abstained to partake in a war to settle international disputes, the scintillating island of Miyajima which is also a UNESCO world heritage site serves as a sacrosanct place for spiritual healing.

Aside from immersing yourself in the country’s culture and urban tone of life, you can also make the best of our Japan tour packages for a beach holiday, as proved by the secluded Yaeyama Islands in Okinawa. By planning a visit to these locations mentioned above through your Japan tour package, you will have barely scratched the surface of this impeccable country. Devote as much time as possible to your Japan your package to truly explore the essence of the country!

First on the list of best places to travel alone for solo female travellers is Kyoto. Japan Travel Blogs

According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization, the boom in Japan’s tourism is probably the largest ever witnessed by a country. The curiosity people have developed towards this Asian country is unprecedented and impressive, leading to the proliferation of Japan tour packages. Luckily for other travellers with Japan on their bucket list, people are also regularly sharing a ton of travel information on Japan tour packages on Tripoto. If you are one of the millions bit by the Japanese travel bug, you must check out the guides, itineraries and experiences on the country available on Tripoto. A few helpful excerpts are listed below:

“It truly was a very unique trip. We left Japan, reflective and thoughtful of our own lives. One thing that stood out the most was, how despite having one of the most technologically advanced and modern societies in the world, the Japanese haven't lost sight of their traditions, roots, and family values.” – Adete Dahiya

“New Year is a huge holiday in Japan and people from smaller cities or countryside go back to visit their families. We were happy to be in Japan during this period because it felt festive and people were in a celebratory mood. But there were some downsides. Some major attractions like Tsukiji Market and Osaka Castle, some shops, and restaurants, were closed when we visited. If you're going to Japan over New Year's, always triple check if the place you want to go to is open. New Year in Tokyo also means that there are discounts everywhere!” – Dianne Goh

“Japanese people are one of the sweetest people I have come across on Earth. Extremely humble, hard-working and having extreme care of others’ convenience, Japanese people made us fall in love with this beautiful country. Also, Japan is only expensive when you spend like a millionaire. Japan otherwise gives a lot of budget options for a backpacker budget traveller to enjoy!” – Sagar Pradhan

“Travel guides fail to see beyond the common stereotypes about Japan being a group of beautiful islands with lots of historic sites. Undeniably these are some of the most prominent and popular aspects of this nation, but this common stereotype is precisely the reason why I believe Japan is entirely different when experienced as an expatriate than as a backpacker. In Japan, you can find almost all the geographical landscapes that you can find on earth, even little deserts!” – Divas Bahuguna

Japan Weather And Best Time To Visit

There is always something to do or see in Japan. Hence, there is not really a bad time to book Japan tour packages. However, depending on the experiences you are specifically visiting the country for, you may want to plan ahead. Travellers usually prefer booking Japan tour packages in late spring (March to May) or late autumn (September to November). Weather-wise, it is a lovely time to be in Japan – the sky is clear with no signs of rainfall and moderate temperatures that do not hinder any travel plans. These months are especially popular due to the blooming soft pink cherry blossoms in spring and the dramatic shades of foliage in autumn.

However, be prepared to face tourist crowds in these months. Summer, that is from June to September, is a particularly festive time of the year in the country. Spirits are high throughout the years as festivals, or matsuri, are celebrated with pomp and frills. A bulk of them fall in summer though, a few examples of which are the Gion Matsuri in Kyoto, Tenjin Matsuri in Osaka, Nebuta Matsuri in Aomori and the Awa Odori Festival in Tokushima. An extravagant display of fireworks also takes place throughout the country.

Tokyo’s Sumida River Fireworks is a popular event. Winter lasts from December to February in Japan. The weather can be extremely cold, which is why few people book Japan tour packages. Still, a good number of people show up for the magnificent New Year’s celebrations in Japan. Ample snowfall makes snowboarding and skiing possible too. You can also enjoy onsen, Japanese hot spring, in these months.

Many cheap Japan tour packages are available too now, enabling more and more people to choose the country for their next trip. The places and activities listed in the Japan tour packages listed on Tripoto are generally inclusive of all kinds of travellers – the one on a solo trip or the one in a group. Besides, the ubiquity of Japan tour packages has made it possible for tourists to customize their trips according to their preferences.

Japan Local Cuisine

Besides being an entrancing holiday destination, Japan is distinguished among gastronomes. Japanese cuisine comprises of some of the most trending dishes in the world. Most people are aware of and love sushi and ramen, but the regional and traditional dishes of Japan go beyond that. It is when you book a Japan tour package and take yourself out to an authentic Japanese restaurant that you realise the myriad options available for you to satiate your hunger. A typical meal usually comprises of the staple ingredient which is rice, several main and side dishes and miso soup. As Japan is an island country, it is unsurprising that seafood, mainly fish, is an integral element of the cuisine. Foreign influences, mainly Chinese, are noticeable in Japanese food. Some of the most delectable and popular dishes that you can try during your trip are unagi, tempura, kaiseki, soba, tonkatsu, yakitori, tsukemono pickles, udon, sukiyaki and sashimi.

Japan Visa

One of the main reasons for the popularity of Japan holiday packages is the lax visa regulations. 68 countries enjoy visa-free entry to the country for up to 90 days! Unfortunately, India is not a part of this exemption and travellers going from this country need a visa along with their Japan tour packages. You can download the application form from an approved website for Japan visa, fill it and submit it at the centre with a fee. Tourist visas under the single-entry or multiple entry categories for an Indian citizen costs Rs.490. Other than that, a transit visa can cost you about Rs.40. Keep in mind to apply for a visa on time so that you get it well in advance, but do not apply 90 days before you are planning to leave for Japan as the visa will not be valid after that. Usually, it takes about 5 days for the Embassy of Japan to process a visa. If you wish to extend your temporary visa, it will be helpful for you to have relatives or business associates as guarantors since the process can be complicated.
