Once the capital of Gujarat in the 16th century, this is a historic city. The main attractions here include the mosques and of course the Champaner- Pavagadh Park. The Kalikamata Temple on top of the Pavagadh Hill is an added attraction here. This is the only completed Islamic city of the Pre- Moughal Era in India. You find everything from the ruins of historical monuments to historical fortifications, palaces, temples and so much more here. There are also residential buildings, agricultural structures and water conservation systems that are still found over here. Most of the structures that we still find in full or parts in Champaner were built between the 8th and the 14th Century which was precisely the later part of the Chalcolithic age. The age of this city can be assumed well from the sight of the ruins but the maintenance done in case of each and every heritage site shows the love and passion of the people of this region for their culture and heritage.

One more of the ancient mosques of Champaner, this is a little bigger than the Sahar ki Masjid. There were initially three domes on top of this mosque but the centra and biggest one collapsed quite a few years ago. There is a lot in terms of designs and architecture in this mosque. Forst of all the beautifully designed arches and the minarets on the sides of the entrance look elegant. The protruding window like balconies are also intricately designed and the whole plan of the mosque is in a rectangular shape. The prayer hall is two storey and this is another unusual feature of this mosque.
