A perfect combination of ancient and urban, this city has been deemed the most futuristic in the country, while also having been occupied by the Harappan civilisation almost 8,000 years ago. In fact, BBC has named Chandigarh as a perfect city with regard to its cultural growth, modernisation and architecture. Nek Chand Rock Garden is a unique and fascinating site, built solely by a man (after whom the garden is named), who used remnants from various demolition sites (particularly the debris while Chandigarh itself was being built) and a whole lot of scrap to build 2000 sculptures, statues, all integrated on walled paths, wherein one can also see man-made interlinked waterfalls. A short walk away from there is the artificial Sukhna lake, a landmark for families to relax and walk around while enjoying street food and keeping kids busy with quaint toys bought from vendors all around. Pertaining to Le Corbusier's (chief architect of the city) vision of Chandigarh being a garden city, Rose Garden is home to over 1,500 varieties of rose and the Garden of Fragrance is perfect for those mind-refreshing walks. Popular places to visit for an insight into Chandigarh and the entire country's history through various artworks are the Government Museum & Art Gallery and the Chandigarh Architecture Museum. Being one of the top four metro cities of the country, Chandigarh has a bustling food scene, home to every cuisine you can think of right from Mediterranean (Kelong, Virgin Courtyard) to Thai (Tao- Bar & Lounge). Some popular places for Punjabi dishes are Punjab Grill and Sher-e- Punjab. Chandigarh is also close to many hill stations such as Solan, Kasauli, Shoghi and Naldehra.

Sukhna Lake is situated in Chandigarh, India, is a small reservoir at the foothills of the Himalayas, the Shivalik slopes. This 3 km² rainfed lake was made in 1958 by damming the Sukhna Choe, a regular stream descending from the Shivalik Hills. The lake was made by Le Corbusier and the Chief Engineer P L Verma. To safeguard its quietness Corbusier demanded that the highest point of the dam (promenade) to be disallowed for vehicular traffic. Sukhna is a conjoined piece of the city of Chandigarh. Le Corbusier had predicted that the city's inhabitants would be drawn it for the 'care of the body and spirit'. The city organizers were profoundly joined to the lake. To such an extent that Pierre Jeanneret's fiery debris were inundated in the lake in 1970, according to his wishes by his niece. The lake is confronting major issues like weed abundance, catchment sufficiency and silting that are essentially contracting its size and depth of the lake.
The Rock Garden of Chandigarh
The Rock garden is located between Capitol Complex and Sukhna Lake. It is filled with man-made interlinked waterfalls and numerous different models that have been made of waste and scraps and different sorts of squanders like glasses, bangles, jugs, tiles, clay pots, sinks, electrical waste, etc which are displayed on walled paths. The beautiful nursery is visited by more than 5,000 individuals every day, with more than 12 million guests since its inception. Nek Chand was offered a salary, a title Sub-Divisional Engineer, Rock Garden, and 50 workers so that he could focus full-time on his work. It showed up on an Indian stamp in 1983. The Rock Garden is still made out of reused materials. At the point when Chand left the nation on an lecture visit in 1996, the city pulled back its subsidizing, and vandals assaulted the recreation center. The Rock Garden Society took control over the organization and upkeep of this interesting visionary environment.

We left for Chandigarh after having our breakfast at Club Mahindra. Chandigarh Airport is 3 hrs away from Kandaghat. On the whole, it was a great trip and all of us enjoyed a lot. Himachal has been a memorable place and the memories will undoubtedly remain green in our minds for the rest of our lives. I would really love to visit Manali again. For the time being, back to work!! No one realizes how beautiful it is to travel, until he/she comes home and rests his head on his old, familiar pillow.

The unique way featured museum is one of the most renowned museums in India as it owes most of its exhibits to the partition of India in 1948 when nearly 40 percent of the objects were brought here from Lahore Museum. The museum has four wings like the art gallery, the national history museum, the national gallery of portraits and the Chandigarh architecture museum. There were many coins, ploughs and implements, bows and arrows, swords and knives, etc and all those things which were from Paleolithic Age and many chairs which were made of stigs. All these things gave me the remembrance of my subject history which I studied in my school. There were many arts and paintings in the art gallery which were incredible. There were paintings like ‘Morning Dip’, ‘After Bath’, ‘Mountain Boy’, ‘Face in the Mirror’, ‘A Beautiful Scenery’, ‘Khadi Work between Three Sisters’, etc, made by the famous artist Ms. Shobha Singh. All these paintings were very beautiful.
