For those who don't know, Mount Titlis is a mountain located at 10,000 feet above sea level, in the Urner Alps of Switzerland. It can be easily accessible from Zurich, via train, but the best way to explore it is by booking a day trip from a tour company. This is for two reasons, one: because it's convenient and saves you time, and two: because by doing so you get to explore another highlight in Switzerland, and that is the beautiful town of Luzern.
The various shades of the blue sky versus the white snow everywhere was just a treat to all of us in the cable car. At this height, the view is very much dependent on the time of the year one visits this place. When in summer, the eyes would see lush green carpet all around and during the winters the eyes are treated to a lush white carpet. Mind you, this difference can only be seen at the initial stage of the cable car ride. Once at the peaks, all one sees is eternal snow!
Mount Titlis, is a good place to have fun. It has a Cliff walk at 3042 m altitude on a suspension bridge, which holds the record for being the highest in Europe. The newly introduced Rotair, is the world's first rotating cable car which gives you a complete 360 degree rotational view. Snow tubing and ice flyers are few other attractions.
Titlis Glacier Cave
The Titlis Glacier Cave is popularly known as the magical crystal world.150 meter long walk inside the cave, the path makes you reach 20 metres below the surface of the glacier. Be prepared as inside the cave, you will be freezing with -1.5 degree Celsius temperature! The entry to the glacier is free of cost.
It has a couple of novice slopes and one can begin their training sessions at this height. A perfect place for learners. Infact, we met a couple who had come from Peru just to learn skiing in their Christmas holidays. After a long chat with them we got to know that there were various levels of skiing and different types of slopes, which correspond to the 3 different levels of slopes. For skiing they remained at the lowest level and for lunch they would visit the top most peak! It seemed a fun activity to us.
