Drive 25kms south of Delhi and you will arrive where the famous Indian singer Sonu Nigam hails from – Faridabad. It is shielded by the Aravalli on the west and southwest while river Yamuna flows on its east and is easily accessible from all other parts of the NCR. It is one of the most developed areas of Haryana. But it is not only about industries alone. One can visit the Suraj Kund Lake as an alternative to the Badkhal Lake, which is a man-made reservoir and has now dried up. The Suraj Kund Lake on the other hand is a great place for lovers of nature. The lake amidst the greenery also offers boat rides and picnic spots. The Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary is a great place if one wants to indulge in bird watching. If you are visiting during January or February, don’t miss the annual handicraft fair at Suraj Kund. A huge collection of exquisite arts and crafts from various parts of the country are brought in. The Shiva Temple at Sainik colony is notable for the 22ft high shivling. And if the weather gets too hot, a tall glass of chilled lassi will always be there for the rescue.
