Charlotte Lake, also spelt as Sharlott Lake'is one of the extremely most magnificent and graphic places found in the beauteous city of Matheran, positioned 1 KM from Matheran. The angelic Charlotte Pond seems extremely ostentatious and gorgeous particularly in damp season. Furnishing since the prime source of normal water for Matheran and the surrounding location, the Charlotte Pond also exerts as probably the most salient and important picnic spot of the Slope Resort. Porcupine Point (Sunset Point)
Mount Abu in Rajasthan is a terrific tourist attractions and the Sunset at Sunset point is what you should definitely not miss. If you are a nature lover and keen to photograph the beauty of nature, then this is an ideal place. There is nothing extra ordinary here but the climate and the views make it a little more charming than many other hill stations. The best way to enjoy the sunset is while you take a boat ride in the Nakki Lake.
One Tree Hill Point
This is a bit tucked away if compared with the other attractions in Matheran. This is a hill point from where you get very nice views just like other places. You can hire a pony and take a ride till here. The only problem is that you are not allowed to climb the hill and the views become a little guarded when standing downhill. You can also do valley crossing for better views at a cost of Rs 250 per person.
You can start from Dasturi Naka and then do some moderate trekking for about half an hour to reach the top to the Panorama Point. As the name says it all, this point is from where you get an awesome panoramic view of the surrounding valleys and an areal angle of the natural beauty here. It is said that a trip to Matheran cannot be completed without a visit to the Panorama Point to view te mesmerizing sunrise here. The toy train station is also nearby.
Charlotte Lake Road
The first point we took was to Charlotte Lake. You can see a dam releasing water from this point making a water fall and further becoming a lake down below. The water level is not too high, at the time of rain, additional fall comes into existence as told by the locals.
Louisa Point - Sunset Point Path
One of the major sightseeing attractions of the destination, which provides views of beautiful surroundings. Located on a plateau, this point offer beautiful views of ancient monuments, which include forts of Vishalgad and Prabal. The point is frequented by nature lovers to sight sunset. Along with this point, there is another popular site known as Lion’s head. Shape of the point resembles to that of the head of lion. From the point, tourists can sight beautiful waterfalls and lake gardens. The better views of a waterfall, Lake Gardens, Chowk point and Echo points are assured from this place. As this place is unspoiled, unexplored and offer calm environments, this is a gifted plain to have a stress free stroll.
The Verandah in the Forest
Matheran is a very touristy place. More than hundreds of Mumbai, Pune citizens flock to this tiny little place every weekend. Matheran has most famously earned itself the sobriquet of being ‘Asia’s first and only auto mobile free station. Therefore, the best way to experience the stillness of Matheran is stay put at The Verandah in the Forest. Lords Point Matheran
The word means 'Jungle Above' and it is like a small hill station in Maharashtra. It is a very peaceful place in the lap of the Sahyadris much away from the noise and hustles of the other parts of Maharashtra. The beautiful greenery, criss crossing valleys, walking trails and of course the lookout areas all make the place even more beautiful. There is still not much commercialization here though some amount of pollution is created by people only. The best part is that motor vehicles are banned here thus, giving your ears a rest and your lungs detoxification after the pollution you have taken in. To reach this place the best is to choose a toy train ride over other faster options. The time spent in a toy train admiring the surrounding beauty is a blissful experience.
A sceluded area, which is even out of the list of the bundle horsemen, this place provides beautiful views of the surrounding valleys. This is a small place and it should literally be avoided after dark due to the scarcity of people as well as transport options. The view of the toy train running on a narrow track from top of the hill to Neral is a very happy sight. The views of the whole town of Neral is clear from this low mountain point. The little bit of climbing proves to be an energy booster here.
King George Point
Considered as one of the best view points, this is a place with some good background though its far from the market. The King George Point is situated between the Echo Point and the Lake and thus a popular place. You can come here for some nature photography as the background includes the lake and some valleys with rolling greenery.
