Mt. Kilimanjaro: The Road Less Traveled
Top Places To Visit in Moshi 12 Spots
I had gotten into Dar es Salaam and the plan was to see the wildlife on this side of the African landscape as I have seen one side at Kenya already. I had tied up with a local tour guide through people I knew at Africa from earlier. I was now getting to know about travelling through the continent covering countries.
The final day is a 10 mile hike to the Marangu Gate. It is a 6000 foot descent the gate so you're work is still cut out for you. You'll travel through high scrub desert, woodland scrub, then into a tropical rain forest. The air is noticeably thicker and it will seem easy to complete this stretch in 3-4 hours. At the gate, signed out and get your certificates for the climb. You will want to book a room in a hotel and plan on cleaning up. The climb is very dusty and you'll be amazed at the amount of the dirt you've collected from the mountain. Uhuru!

‘Karibu’ means ‘welcome’ in Swahili and it was the first thing I heard as I got off the plane. On landing at Nairobi airport, we headed straight to the Sarova Stanley hotel, where we were booked to stay. Located in the very heart of Nairobi, near its vibrant city centre and other shopping markets, this heritage hotel has been voted the best in Kenya at the World Travel awards, described by the Wall Street Journal as the ‘Oscars’ of the global travel and tourism industry. It was grand indeed. After checking in, we headed for lunch to its famous outdoor Thorn Tree Café which had functioned as the oldest post office in Kenya many, many years ago.
