Also known as Namagiri, this is a city and municipality of the Namakkal District and a part of the Kongu Nadu region of Tamil Nadu. The Anjaneya Temple and the Namagiri Fort are the main attraction here. This place has seen the glorious rule of many prominent dynasties including Cholas, Pallavas, Pandyas, the Sultans, Marathas and many more. The fort here was built probably during the Pallava rule and then shifted hands and went to the Bijapur Sultans from whom it was won by the Marathas.
