Weekend Getaways from Phuket
6. Stay in Phuket old townPatong in Phuket is a tourist attraction but Old Phuket town is quiet and has beautiful architecture. Book a guest house in old phuket town and spend a day or two just strolling around the streets. At nights the streets are lit with really pretty lights and cute shops all over the old town to take back some souvenirs for your loved ones. Strongly suggest staying at the Rommanee guest house.

How To Reach Phuket
Book Phuket Tour Package
I wasnt quite sure what to expect from Phuket, having heard from some people that its an overly commercialised party town and from some that it has some of the most beautiful beaches that one can go to.I had my share of partying and night adventure in Bangkok (about which i shall blog later). So i was looking forward to a more beach-and-chill vibe on heading to Phuket, ofcourse with a whole lot of exploration of beautiful places.I took an overnight bus from Bangkok from the Southern Bus Terminal for 700 Baht. It dropped me right at the Phuket Bus Terminal. The journey was pretty decent, the landscape was nothing short of beautiful, it already started to feel like a perfect vacation. I reached Phuket around 11am. From the bus terminal i took a shared bus to the downtown market and then another bus to Patong, all in an hour.I reached my accommodation by noon. I put up at The Little Moon Residence which was about 1.5km from the Patong Beach.First things first in any place, get a Vehicle. Be it a bicycle or a bike or a car. It just becomes convenient to travel and you'll save up on quite a bit. The public transportation in Thailand is expensive. One can rent a bike for 200-500 Baht in Patong. And for god sake the Thai accent is almost impossible to understand. You wont understand a thing the locals say and they wont understand a thing you say. You're just gonna have to rely on finding the thai written text for whatever you need and show it to the locals.Since i didnt have much time left in the day,i went to Phromthep Cape which is the southern most tip of Phuket, 22km from Patong. You get to see a beautiful view of the ocean from there but it gets pretty crowded around that time. You could walk all the way down to the end of the cape but on the way back uphill you might wonder why you had to inflict this upon yourself (as did i).For dinner, i went to the Malin plaza which is basically your organised streetmarket. They serve up beautiful roasted meat to yum thai food to delicious crepes and fresh fruits. A full meal can cost you upto 100 bahts on an average. If thai food isn't your thing, Phuket has a whole lotta multi cusine restaurants and bars and even your mainstream Mcdonalds and Burger King at the Banana plaza and Jungceylon. There are a lot of shops on the street offering you everything. Every other shop is a thai massage parlour or a 7-11 which is basically your 24*7 shop.
Phuket Simon Cabaret Patong Phuket Thailand
During my stay in Phuket last winter, I decided to see this famous show of Ladyboys of Phuket. The show is simply breathtaking with stunning costumes. Nice show, The lady boys are stunning. Bad thing was Photos are prohibited during the show and suddenly after every show you can see the lady boys waiting in line . This is the only time you can take pictures. They ask you to come with them for a picture, however, they will not hesitate to force you to pay them for taking this picture. If you buy VIP seats a bottle of water is provided. The GirlsBoys, with beautiful choreography representing several countries. A great show where we can go with a family, not vulgar at all .
Patong Beach Patong Phuket Thailand
Food: I love Thai food and was really looking forward to filling up on it during this trip. But first, lets talk about the breakfast at the resort. It is probably the biggest spread I have seen so far- eggs station, noodle soup station, juice and yoghurt counter, breads and pastries, salad bar, vegetarian station, fruits, local food, pancakes, waffles, ice-cream and more, phew! The breakfast is quite sumptuous- crab eggs Benedict, waffles with banana sauce and taro and lime ice creams are a must try. If you are staying for at least 4 days then you have good chance of tasting everything. The resort has plenty of eating options- Sand Box, Takieng, Loca Vore, Doppio. They have happy hour in the lounge from 6:30-8:30 pm. Loved the music there and the Mango Daiquiri. We tried out Sand Box which serves pizzas, burgers, sandwiches etc. and liked the food there. Their wood fired pizzas are quite good I would say and I also liked their cocktails. We really wanted to try out Thai food at Takieng but didn't get a chance plus unfortunately it is open only for dinner. Overall, the food is nice at the resort but on the expensive side.
Krabi Phuket Thailand
Beach fun of course. The main water activity in Krabi is enjoying the waves and kayaking. Because of its rock formations jet skiing, banana boat riding and water skiing are not common in Krabi. Some of the islands boast great diving & snorkelling, so that’s a must do. Rock climbing is another perfect adventure activity if you aren’t too scared (I was). Walking around and discovering our island was a brilliant way to spend one day, we realised the east side and the west side of Railay are just 15 mins away by a small path, and both had a charm of their own. A little beach on the west side had the prettiest rock formations and mountains you could either climb or swim under. A makeshift cave-temple dedicated to fertility was a fun picture opportunity.

Mom Tri's Kitchen at Villa Royale Rawai Phuket Thailand
The sun has gone up in the sky. It was time for us to put a pause for our lunch. We opted the latest restaurant of Mom Tri namely Mom Tri’s Boathouse Regatta who is an entrepreneur owning a chain of HOTELS and restaurant in Phuket. The food here is utterly delicious. I would recommend curried fried rice with seafood, cashews and pineapple costing 300 baht along with lobster ravioli with morel mushroom velouté priced at 500 baht
Bangla Patong Phuket Thailand
Bangla Road is the heart of all Phuket Nightlife. Bangla road is not just a road, but a street dedicated to bar, discos, music and crowded with Pretty girl's. A unique atmosphere. Bangla Road in Patong on Phuket Island is world famous and if you do not know well about this is that it is not for you. It is simply the street with all the gogo(night club) bar, street prostitutes and brothels. I recommend the Bar "Gossip" on Bangla Road, small but good atmosphere.
Phi Phi island tour Phuket Thailand
The island hopping tour is a must. There are 3 options- The Phi Phi Island Tour, The Hong Island Tour, The 4 Island Tour Phi Phi Islands is supposed to be the prettiest, 4 Island best for kids, while Hong Islands the most adventurous. We chose to visit the Hong Islands. I cannot imagine a better way to spend the day. We booked a private longtail boat for the 2 of us, and were picked up right by our hotel beach. The beautiful expanse of sea, peppered with mountains surrounded us with its perfection.

We choose the White Box Restaurant located at 245/7 Prabaramee Road offering an elegant interior with floor-to-ceiling windows with splendid terrace offering panoramic view of the ocean. The menu is a marvellous combination of both thai as well as Mediterranean flavors. The dinner cost approximately was 3000 baht. After dinner we decided to spend some leisure time on upstairs trendy open-air lounge. Here you can taste foods like made with vodka, galangal, spicy Tom Yum martinis, lemon grass, kaffir lime leaf and chili priced at 280 baht.

9. Hike up to Windmill view point. If you like nature walking and view points this is the best thing to do in Phuket. Start around 5 pm and you'll be able to reach viewpoint at sunset and spend some really quiet time. While walking upto the viewpoint, you'll come across lush green forest around well built roads. Keep yourself hydrated as it can get humid over there.
Coral Island Rawai Phuket Thailand
The very name of Coral Island meant that there was scomething special planned. Our guide mentioned casually that there were quite a few activities we could participate in, such as parasailing, snorkelling, banana boat ride and the water-biking. I was more than thrilled when we heard that we would be going there via motor boat. I had absolutely no idea how interesting my adventure was going to be.
Thanon Ong Sim Phai
We wanted to avoid the crowd of the beaches. So decided to pay a visit to the inland town of Phuket. We decided to visit the night food court of Ong Sim Phai Road. This place was bursting will portable stall and carts along with several arrangements of plastic chair and tables arranged on the street for the visitors to sit. This place offers authentic Thai and Chinese dishes including mouthwatering foods like coconut curry, spicy papaya salad, grilled fish balls, barbecued pork buns. Lastly for dessert, you can taste the authentic dish of Thailand. You must pretty confused as to where to eat. Well we followed a simple trick that was opted for the stall which had longest line of waiting visitors. Trust me, the food was superb and certainly cost effective with just 190 baht.
Fantasea Tour Kammala Phuket Thailand
Fantasea show, Las Vegas style Thai cultural show inspired with number of new technology and must visted place for those who wants to know about Thailand culture.. The show is really fantastic - but also very touristy .I first wandered through all the souvenir shops and some games stalls and finally I Watch live dance stunts that tells stories of ancient Thailand. The show creates beautiful moments of emotion. The hundreds of actors are very energetic and generous. it's true that it's a bit pricey (1500 baht =2900rs approx) .show is only of 2 hours and it is of great quality.Must visit place.
Siam Niramit Phuket Koh Keaw Phuket Thailand
Shows - Thailand has a rich cultural heritage. There are a lot of night shows like the Siam Niramit show, Calypso Lady Boy show, Aksra Puppet show. I watched the Siam Niramit show. It is a mixed show which shows the history, culture and lifestyle of Thailand. Worth a watch for the sets and how quickly they change them after the end of one show. Tickets cost 1500 baht for a normal seating and 2000 baht for a VIP seating. They also offer dinner prior to the show at an extra cost. Dinner starts at 6 pm so you can skip buying tickets with dinner. Nightlife - Without any doubts Bangkok has the most happening nightlife. I had visited the Skybar Rootop at Lebua, the place where Hangover 2 was shot. Worth every penny you spend. It is on the 64th floor and from there you get a panoramic view of Bangkok.I stayed in Bangkok for 5 days and enjoyed every minute of it. If you still haven't added Thailand to your bucket list, visit it once and I bet you will visit again. Do find your reasons to love Bangkok !!
