This is the capital of the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and lies on the southernmost part of Andaman. This is also the largest city of the twin islands and mainly famous for the beautiful beaches with palm lined shores. The uneven terrains with forests lined on both sides make the best driving route. A visit to this place will make you fall in love completely. The major attractions are the Cellular Jail, Samudrika Museum, Corbyn's Cove Beach. Some of the other tourist attractions here include Chatham Sawmill, Children's Traffic Park, Chiriya Tafu, Diglipur, Forest Museum, Fisheries Museum, Gandhi Park, Jolly Buoy Islands and many more. Port Blair is more on the tribal region and so the traditional language is the Nicobarese. The other common languages spoken here are Hindi, Bengali, English, Tamil and Malayalam.
Dhani Nallah Mangrove walkway: The 700 metre long walkway through dense mangrove ecosystem is an outstanding effort by the A&N administration to conserve the mangrove forests which are crucial to coastal areas. The walkway leads you to a beach with long stretch of golden sand and calm waters famous for turtle nesting. There is a hatchery here which is being maintained by Wildlife officials. Amenities such as changing rooms, treetop huts, eco huts are available near the beach.
