A creation by the Michelin three-star chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, this French restaurant is where you can sample some of his ground-breaking contemporary haute cuisine, such as slow-baked salmon with wild mushrooms and sake-ginger dressing, or grilled pork tenderloin with pineapple and aubergine. Completed with an elegant décor, perfect service and a picturesque view, Jean-Georges is no doubt the brightest gem in the crown of Shanghai’s dining scene.
Basilica of Fourvière
You can opt for a short funicular ride that costs around 2 euro (and totally not worth it) or opt for budgeting stairs. You won’t be able to miss marvelous Basilique de Fourviere built 19th century and dedicated to Virgin Mary, who saved the city from a cholera epidemic back in 1823. The famous Festival of Lights is held annually on December, the 8th with billions of lights set all around the city in her honor. The decor inside is breathtaking with walls covered with vivid mosaics and stained glass windows. Don’t miss the crypt on the ground floor which is less ornamented, yet amazingly beautiful too. Check out the viewpoint right behind Basilique de Fourviere to get the best view on Veux Lyon orange tile rooftops and sparkling Saone River that flows around the Old City.
Restaurant Le Crayon
Or just “Le crayon” (the Pencil) how the locals call it. Situated right next to Part Dieu railway station this 32-stored skyscraper was built in late 70s and is the 9th tallest building in France. The first 10 floors are occupied by Radisson hotel and the rest are office buildings. The last store has a bad and a panoramic view resto. Though, the prices are pretty high, still having a glass of fine wine and terrific view is totally worth it!
Old Port of Marseille
4. Vieux-port (The old port of Marseille)My evening in Marseille ended with a stroll along the streets of this port which are well lit. You would be pleasantly surprised by the non-stop entertainment that has the visitors awestruck, at all times of the day. There is also some mouth watering street food. Especially if you love seafood, a spread awaits you. Try the bouillabaisse. I had to do away with the delicious desserts. To my delight, there was an entire street dedicated to sweets. I wasn't surprised by the diverse culture and cuisine in Marseille. It was after all a port side city that welcomed immigrants with open arms. The walk along the street had just so much to offer. I was glad that it even allowed me to catch a glimpse of the Marseille Cathedral. A cable car ride to the hilltop would have definitely been an ideal way to end the day. But there are some things which you must leave for a next time. My sweet tooth was satisfied at the end of one wonderful evening in the city. And this was enough to complete my visit to a lesser known piece of heaven, Marseille. Bonjour! =)
This diving spot is our new underwater discovery. Lia reef offers a very rich marine life and dives going to about -24m. There is great number of black and yellow sponges at about 20 m, and we often see beautiful nudibranchs. The site is one of the richest in fish and has a perfect visibility up to 40m. A diving spot for advanced and novice divers alike.
