Sabarimala is located in Kerala and is one of the most significant Hindu pilgrim centres. Though the main temple, Sabarimala Sree Dharma Sastha Temple, doesn't hold any restrictions for visiting the temple and people from any caste, creed or religion are allowed in the temple, it mostly sees Hindus devotees.
The temple is located on top of a hill and is not open throughout the year. It is open only during the days of Mandalapooja, Makaravilakku and Chitra Vishu and one has to go through a rigorous fast of 41 days before embarking on a journey to the temple. There are some other rules to follow before setting out on a journey to the temple and it's best to research a little bit before heading out.
There are umpteen hotels at the site of the temple and finding a place to stay here is not a hassle at all.
