Ranthambore Forest Resort
Our trip started on Thursday evening as we rushed after work to board the Jaipur Superfast Express at 6:50 pm from Mumbai Central. At the station we met Dhimesh Patel - an ex banker turned adventurer - who was our trip leader and the only guy without a seat since he had to offer his seat to some lady who joined the trip last minute. We reached Sawai Madhopur next morning at 10:30 and after a quick breakfast checked in to our rooms at the Ranthambhore Forest Resort.
The Oberoi Vanyavilas
A grand effort by the Oberoi group of hotels and Resorts, this is also known as the Ranthambhore Forest Resort. They have the most awesome settings with the fantastic views of the Ranthambhore National park and the sound of the beasts. Apart from this the hotel s just beautiful from all angles. The pool area and garden are two of the most attractive spaces. The food they provide are nothing short of royal food and you are sure to enjoy every bit of your stay here.
In the Khilchipur Village of Ranthambhore, the Dastkar is a non- profit organization of the region. This is a women centric organization and they specialize in handicrafts which are again put up at exhibitions and sales. The main work that they do are making eco- friendly bags and totes, slippers and sandals, tie and die works, clay and black pottery. When you visit this place, you can not only get a view of the culture of the locales here but also buy a lot of these beautiful items at quite cheap rates.
This is a resort in the Khilchipur Village of Sawai Madhopur District of Ranthambore. This is a favorite of many old and new tourists mainly because of its location. In the midst of the rustic surroundings of the Ranthambore National Park, this resort is simply value for money. The rooms are spacious and the cleanliness is remarkable. The behavior of the staff is very good and the attractions around are cherries on the cake.
It took us 10 mins to reach Ankur Resort from Sawai Madhopur Station. Auto wallas will charge approx. 70 -100 rs to reach this place. They will ask for more money so don’t get cheated. We stayed at Ankur resort for 3 days. Food and service is very good. It is approx. 1 - 1.5 kms away from the ranthambore national reserve. One must try Lal Maas and dal baati if in rajasthan.
A place of outstanding beauty, this is the same lake which is in front of the hill on top of which the Jogi Mahal is situated. The clean and crystal like waters of the lake is where you will find a number of wild animals and reptiles cooling themselves or quenching their thirst. The best sight is of the crocodiles and of course of the deer which come here to drink water. Safaris around this area is a nice thing to do and photography comes hand-in-hand of course.
