AUGUST: flew up to Sulawesi island, specifically at Tomohon for tropical bloom The town of Tomohon in North Sulawesi will spring into full bloom with flowers of every color, shape, and size from 8th to 12th August 2014 as the hill town stages the Tomohon International Flower Festival 2014. As in previous editions, the Tomohon International Flower Festival (TIFF) 2014 will be highlighted with a number of fascinating attractions including the Flower Queen Beauty pageant; Tourism, Trade and Florikultura Exhibitions, and Art and Culture Festivals. This year, there will also be an international Gate Ball Competition.
Togian itself has been declared as a National Park based on the Decree of the Minister of Forestry No. SK.418/Menhut-II/2004 dated October 19, 2004. It has an area of approximately 362,605 acres. That includes 10,659 acres of protected forests for Mangrove conservation.A survey by Conservation International Indonesia (CII) in 2001 found 262 species of coral reefs in this region, 596 species of fish, and 555 species of molluscs and other rare species such as green turtle (Chelonia mygas), giant clam (Tridacna gigas), trochus (Trochus niloticus), dugong-dugong, hawksbill (Eretmochelys imbriocata), and pilot whales. There are two types that are considered endemic, namely Paracheilinus togeanensis and Ecsenius. They can only be found in Togian.
