1. Grotto Palazesse Puglia Italy

With stunning views overlooking the Adriatic sea, this dining-in-a-cave experience is one of the most coveted dining experiences in the world A perfect date night location, the fairytale like quality of this restaurant makes it a first on our list of amazing restaurants around the world. It’s not just the views that are worthwhile, the food is excellent too. Win-win, all the way!

Closer to home you have the Grotto Restaurant located in Krabi. Located in a limestone cave, it gives a wonderful dining in a cave experience for those who don’t want to wait for the Schenghen visa.

2. Hanging Fangweng Restaurant Nanjin Guan China

Located in the Hubei Province, about 12km north of the city of Yichang. The restaurant is located in a scenic stretch of cliffs, caves and park land located around the area where the Chang Jiang River flows into the Yangtze. Diners can come to the restaurant and sit in this thrilling viewing area while getting a warm meal, overlooking a gorge, the Yangtse river and a few daredevils taking bungee jumps on the other side. Started as an initiative to safekeep the traditions of the wine county of Napa, this dining train with 100 year old rail cars, offers a scenic run amidst wineyards , while you can enjoy a yummy meal or try your hand at wine tasting. Going to an opera is a mustdo experience in Europe, but to have a private dining experience on stage? That one is something else. At the Fourseasons in Budapest, you can have that experience at the Opera House. Very exclusive, very classic and very, very romantic. 5. Faviken Jarpen, Sweden

Billed as the world’s most isolated restaurant, Fäviken, in the north of Sweden, it is housed in an 18th century barn on a 24,000-acre hunting estate. The restaurant can only accommodate 12 diners each night with guests staying in spartan rooms on site. It’s all served up in a spot-lit dining room, which resembles a wood-cutter’s shack, complete with old wolf skins and slabs of meat for decoration. Rustic Scandinavian food is on the menu.

6. Soneva Kiri, Treepod dining Thailand, Chiang Mi

Comfortably seated in a bamboo pod, hoisted high up into the tropical foliage of Koh Kut’s ancient rainforest you can enjoy the treepod experience in this Thai fine dining spot. Facing out into the ocean, with a rainforest under you, you get served by waiters who reach you by zip lines (what now?). Located at the exclusive Koh Kut island, an hour away from Bangkok by flight.

7. Ithaa, Underwater dining Maldives.

Getting a warm meal , surrounded by an aquarium. The bluest of blues of the ocean keeps you enveloped through the main course and desert, and just the thought of the colourful fishes and the marine life, makes Ithaa a sure feature on our list of amazing restaurants. 5 feet underwater, at the Hilton at Maldives, it serves contemporary fusion Maldivian cuisine with Western and Asian influence. Be sure to book in advance, as it seats only 14 guests at a time.

8. Giraffe Manor, Kenya

The giraffe manor started off an inn run by  Jock and Betty Leslie-Melville. They wanted to work  on giraffe conservation. Now it’s an iconic stay, visited by the who’s who of the world, and at its restaurant you can have the pleasure of actually dining with giraffes. The property is located in 157 acres of land and is a sanctuary to the Rothschild Giraffe, an endangered species. We can’t get enough of these pictures of these gentle creatures chilling out with the guests.

9. The rock Zanzibar, Tanzania

Literally located on a rock, near the Michanwi Pingwe beach in Zanzibar. It’s fairytale like location seems inspired by Tim Burton movies , and during high tide a wooden boat takes you there. Low tides you can walk over yourself. Both methods will take you to a rickety wooden staircase and into the restaurant, built in the local Zanzibar architectural style with a Makuti palm tree roof. In the back, there’s a beautiful patio where you can grab a cocktail surrounded on three sides by the turquoise seas. Inside, there are 12 cozy tables for lunch and dinner. Salute.

10. Berggasthaus Aescher Switzerland

A restaurant that makes you sweat it out to get to it! A must do for the active traveler. A cable car ride, and an uphill hike will get you to this  rustic yet beautiful restaurant housed on the side of a cliff. The Swiss call it “Berggasthaus” which means a Mountain-Guesthouse, as there a nice guest house here too. Located in Central Swiss Alps, this restaurant is on the other side of a challenging walk, the Seealp Lake and finally you get here. The restaurant is in the most precarious position, clinging to the foot of a vertical cliff face a good 100 m high. Fun Fun Fun!El Diabolo Canary Islands.

11. El Diabolo Canary Islands

Located in the Timanfaya National Park on the island of Lanzarote off the coast of Morocco, this restaurant cooks food from the heat of a volcano. Designed in 1970, the oven here is made of volcanic basalt rocks in layers and one can get a barbeque of their favourite meat or fish. A unique concept this is, and a tad scary too.

12. Dinner in the sky, Belguim

Celebrated chefs of Belgium came together to be a part of the unique Sky dining experience for the first time. Hoisted 150ft into the air by a crane, diners were treated to the finest cusine by the best chefs while they enjoyed the beautiful views of the skyline of skyline of Brussels. The concept became an overnight success and was taken to various other cities in France, Austria, Australia, Japan,Dubaï, South-Africa, Brazil, United States.
