Day 1

We had to attend a week-long training in Kuala Lumpur and thus decided to utilize both weekends effectively. Malaysia would never have been top of my mind as a travel destination but I was in for a nice surprise. So first day, landing in Kuala Lumpur,we took a late morning flight to Langkawi. The descent is beautiful as you see the sandy tropical islands from up above surrounded by blinding blue sea. After landing we took a cab to our AirBnB which was some ways away from the main beach but had a nice view of the bay. Our first area of visit was of course the world-famous Langkawi Sky Bridge. With my fear of heights I was super tentative about going up all the way in that steep cable car, and while the journey was nerve-wracking, nothing could beat the mind-blowing view from the observation decks and the sky bridge. Surrounded on all sides by green heavily forested hills, endless seas and tiny sandy islands, we spent a substantial amount of time there before heading back and going to Pantai Cenang beach, where we sat at a nice bar on bean bags drinking into the night.

Day 2

The next morning we headed back to Pantai Cenang for a seafood lunch where we had seen the PM of Malaysia hosting a dinner the night before. The food was expectedly amazing, and once we were done, we headed to the beach where some people decided to go for water sports. Meanwhile, I spent the afternoon drinking beer and taking dips in the ocean. We headed out late afternoon to catch our flights for KL.

Day 3

First evening off from training and a formal dinner, we headed to Bulkit Bintang and crowded into different bars

Day 6

Last night in KL and we basically did a rehash of whatever we had liked by going to the fast food lane right next to Bulkit Bintang and then drinking at Bulkit Bintang followed by clubbing through the night at Jalan Tun Razak.

Day 7

With the week-long trainings done, a few of us rented cars from the KLIA and drove the 500 km to Penang Island. The drive is a pleasure by itself as you comfortably cruise along at 150+ kmph on a highway that has no turns the entire way. Reaching Penang late in the evening we checked into our AirBnB at Batu Ferringhi beach before heading to a beachside shack to drink our weariness away

Day 8

The morning was spent on Batu Ferringhi taking dips in the sea and sipping beer amidst torrential rainfall on the beach. Late afternoon we headed out to Georgetown which is the biggest city on Penang where we first went to Gurney Drive which is famous for its fastfood. Post-that, in what was easily the highlight of the entire trip, we downloaded the google map of each and every mural in the old quarters of the city and set out on a walking tour to discover them. With our phones dying midway, getting lost in the lanes amidst old colonial buildings and chancing upon the most exquisite murals was a wondrous experience. We were able to see around 30 of them but made sure we didn't miss out on the 5 originals, even if that meant spending 10 mins in the unbearable stench of Choo Jetty.

Day 9

Setting off for KL early in the morning to catch our flights back to India, we reached the airport way too early. Googling around for things to do, we found the perfect way to cap this trip. We headed over to the Sepang F1 circuit and ended up driving go-karts on it. So yes, that happened.
