It was known as the ‘Elephant Falls’ because a stone near the falls looked like an elephant. The stone was torn down by an earthquake in the year 1897, but the name has struck from that time only.

2. Mawlynnong

Mawlynnong Shillong is a small village in the Eastern Khasi Hills district in Meghalaya and is famous for being declared as Asia’s cleanest village because of which it has also emerged as a popular destination in the past decade.

The village has beautiful homes, and some of them offer home stays. It also has a holy tree house, which has an actual viewpoint to see the Bangladesh border. One can even go for an easy trek to a single decker living root bridge in the Riwai, which is a neighbouring village.

3. Sweet Falls

Sweet Falls which is known as the Kshaid Walden, this is a 90-meter high waterfall that has often termed as the “the lethal beauty.” A record number of accidental deaths and suicides have happened here, and it is said that groups go there in the odd numbers and always returns in the even numbers.

4. Shillong Peak

The Shillong peak is the highest point in the Meghalaya. It is located 5 km to the south of the Shillong and is 6433 feet in altitude. 7. Lady Hydari Park

The Lady Hydari park that is a child-themed park derives its name from the wife of the first governor of Assam, Lay Hydari. It is established and maintained by the forest department this park even incorporates a mini zoo, open area for children to play and a deer park.
