Day 1

Had an opportunity to visit Hornbill Festival this time and was one lovely trip I was not aware about until recently.

The journey would be a bit tiring as I started from Hyderabad, waking up at 03:00, heading to airport to catch a flight at 05:40.

This was just the beginning as Spicejet took us to our first pit-stop on time which was Guwahati. We then made our way to the railway station out there, did a bit of exploring the city, having a bite at Dominos and returning to catch our train at 14:30 hrs to Dimapur.

The train chugged out on time and we were slowly heading towards Dimapur.

By the time we reached Dimapur, it was late in the night and we could not get a taxi towards Kohima, so we headed for a hotel for the night.

Day 2

Our journey from Dimapur to Kohima

Getting up at 05:30, we started getting ready and by 06:30, we reached the railway station in search of a taxi for our journey to Kohima.

We luckily found a cab who was ready to take us until Hornbill Festival for ₹2,900 and we happily agreed.

Now a word of caution, get ready for one of the bumpiest rides in your life as the roads are being constructed and it might be awhile before you get to experience good roads in Nagaland and Manipur.

The drive from Dimapur to Kohima would take anywhere between 03 to 04 hours depending on the vehicle and the driver's skills.

We reached our destination (Kisama) by around 11:00 am with a breakfast break in between.

Heading over to Camp Hornbill in Kigwema...

Our stay was booked at Camp Hornbill in Kigwema and had beautiful tents and lovely hosts. We checked in to our tent and after some tea, decided to head over to the Hornbill Festival.

After checking into our camp, we headed for the Hornbill Festival through a shortcut which was near our campsite.

Very excited for our first visit to Hornbill (maybe not the last one for sure)..

We were greeted by the stalls and the Morung that had each of the tribes showcase their culture.

We spent all day around here and in time for the Inauguration at 15:00 hrs by Mr. Rajnath Singh, Homr Minister of India.

The inaugural was followed by a series of events for the evening which ended around 21:00 hrs.
