Welcome to Cultural hub of Maharashtra, Pune. Place famous for its cultural vibrancy and also known as Oxford of west is full of monuments, places and yes food items which will leave a permanent mark on your mind once you have got a taste of it.

Travel by train to Pune from Mumbai, train ride is almost 3 Hours but provides some breath taking views of Western Ghats with cars running on Express way and Monkeys chasing you along the way. Get down at Pune and hop on an auto to Parvati Temple, please insist  to put meter on, reaching the foothills climb around 100 - 150 steps to reach at the top of temple, on looking down from the hill it provides a 360 Degree of the splendid city that lies around it.

Get down from Parvati en-route to Saras Baug (Garden), catch a breath or so after the climb at Parvati, visit the Ganesha Temple in Garden premises and then hop on a ride to Budhwar Peth, now its time to try some Puneri Misal, and other Maharashtrian Snacks at Shree Krishna Bhuvan in Tulsi Baug, guys be particular about the time because if you miss the timeline however hungry you are people don't mind closing doors on your face :P.

Take a stroll around Tulsi Baug here you will come across all shops like Jewellery, flowers, clothes etc.. and if you feel thirsty or wish for an ice cream do have Kawre Ice Cream, out of Tulsi baug to main road you will come land up on Laxmi road, street famous for all kind of traditional Saree shops, also you will find the famous Chitale Sweets on the same street (mind it the shop is closed between 1 pm - 4 pm).

To know about how exactly the city transformed from a small Hamlet to a City, visit Vishrambaug wada where you have a show running narrating the transformation of the city. Walk a while and come back to Mandai (Vegetable market), where you can find all sorts fruits of Vegetables (Indian, Imported) at a fair price and good quality, a few steps and we reach Dagdu Sheth Halwai Ganapati, famous temple of Lord Ganesha, take a narrow lane just behind the temple and you will come across Tambadi Jogeshwari Temple, have a lunch at many of the restaurants around and take a stroll along the road to reach Shaniwar Wada, this a land fort built by Maratha rulers, Peshwa's  and is an important landmark of the city, behind Shaniwar Wada, you will come across a building built in Red stone it is famous Lal Mahal, the place where Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj spent his early childhood days, visit Kasba Ganesh Mandir, just besides the Lal Mahal and then hop on a ride back to Pune Station to catch a train and back to your place, or else to Swargate to catch bus.

Best time to visit Pune is during 10 days of Ganeshotsav, you will enjoy your time with all the decorations and huge pandals that erected on every corner of the city, and yes do try Puneri Pattice (Poona Bakery), and Guavas, also check the time of place before you visit as 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm most of the shops and places are closed, so plan it accordingly and do let me know how was your experience.
