Palaces and More (Udaipur Solo Trip)

Tripoto

Udaipur, a place of royal heritage and one of the\most visited cities in Majestic Rajasthan.

Udaipur was my first trip during my post grad.

Trip was planned in spur of the moment. I packed my bag, booked room (via Oyo Rooms) and bus (via redbus.in) and started my journey to a place which I had no idea would be extremely surreal.

Fun Fact: James Bond movie Octopussy was shot here and so was Yeh Jawani hai Deewani.

1. City Palace

This palace is a MUST visit. It was built by Maharaja Udai Singh II of Sisodia Rajput clan in 1553. This palace was built over a period of 400 years!! It is situated on a hilltop giving us a panoramic view of Udaipur.

Too good to be true!!!!

2. Bagore ki Haveli and Lake Pichola

Amir Chand Badwa, the Prime Minister of Mewar, built Bagore ki Haveli in the eighteenth century. It is basically a museum displaying opulence of Mewars.

While strolling in the Haveli, you can also see the private quarters of the royal ladies, their bath rooms, dressing rooms, bed rooms, living rooms, worship rooms and recreation rooms.

3. Monsoon Palace

The Monsoon Palace is also known as the Sajjan Garh Palace. It is named Sajjangarh after Maharana Sajjan Singh (1874–1884) of the Mewar Dynasty, who built it in 1884. The palace offers a panoramic view of the city’s lakes, palaces and surrounding countryside. It was built chiefly to watch the monsoon clouds; hence, appropriately, it is popularly known as Monsoon Palace.

So, that was Udaipur from my perspective. There are other places too but above mention places are a must visit…!!!!

Public transport is good. Bargain with auto rickshaws beforehand. Although Udaipur has Ola now!!!!

Thankyou!
