Nashik... a city steeped in history, holding its glory since the time of the Ramayana. This is the land where Lord Rama spent more than two and a half years of his exile. It is here that Lord Lakshmana cut Shurpanakha’s nose, changing the course of the epic.

But Nashik is not just about the past—it continues to be a place of immense spiritual significance. It is one of the four sacred sites where the grand Kumbh Mela takes place every 12 Years. Mark your calendars, because the next one is in 2027!

Now, let me guide you through the best experiences Nashik has to offer.

Are you someone who loves the Ganga Aarti—whether in Rishikesh, Haridwar, or Banaras? Do you find yourself drawn to the sight of flickering lamps, the rhythmic chants, and the divine energy that fills the air? If yes, then Nashik should be your next stop.

Every evening, from 7 PM to 8 PM, the Godavari Ghat comes alive with the sound of prayers. But there’s something unique here—women also perform the aarti! Dressed in Navvari sarees, with nose pins and gajras, they look no less than goddesses.

And above them, the sky plays its own symphony—gold melting into pink, pink blossoming into deep purple. For a moment, time stands still.

This is the place where Mata Sita spent her days during the exile, where she was hidden by Lord Rama in Sita Gufa—a small cave that still holds her idol today. You’ll need to pass through a narrow tunnel to reach it, making it feel like stepping into history itself.

For a symbolic glimpse into the past, the Sita Haran Pradarshini showcases visuals of how Ravana abducted Goddess Sita—for just ₹1!

Don’t miss the Shree Kalaram Mandir, a magnificent temple dedicated to Lord Rama. Made entirely of black stone, it stands as a masterpiece of devotion and architecture.

And must visit, Ram kund and take a holy dip in Godavari River.

About 30 km from Nashik lies Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga, one of the 12 sacred jyotirlingas in India. What makes it unique? The linga here has three faces, symbolizing Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva.

I visited during the auspicious Shravan month, and it took nearly 5–6 hours for darshan. The arrangements are well-managed, though there’s also a VIP entry option—but honestly, the experience more or less remains the same as the regular queue.

The temple is open from 6 AM to 9 PM, so plan your visit accordingly.
