Tsomgo Lake, also known as Tsongmo Lake or Changu Lake, is a glacial lake in the East Sikkim district of the Indian state of Sikkim, some 40 kilometres from the capital Gangtok. Located at an elevation of 3,753 m, the lake remains frozen during the winter season.
So a day is enough to travel there and come back . I traveled with my friends , we get the vehicle easily from gangtok and the passes to tsongmo lake is arranged by the driver . The cost for the vehicle is around 3500-4000 rupees for a 7seater ... As only the gangtok vehicle with permits are allowed . It is the border place and no such small vehicle are allowed . Trip started early morning at 8am and reached there within 3 hours . The place is a very beautiful place to be with snowfall and the chilling weather . There you can visit the baba mandir and the other lakes where you can go for boating . Other than that you can get a yak ride and the cost is minimal . You can come back though the silk route , rongli way or the same way that one took to reach there. It's a good and within budget trip . Good with family and friends to experience the hills and travel
Tips :
Group travelling is best
Cheap and great views
Cold so warm clothes recommended
Enjoy the hot teas you get in shops
One bad thing , no network ... But who needs when you are in great place as such
Last need to charge you phone full because of cold the battery gets over really fast .
Do visit ... Sikkim
