Day-1 We reached Milan about 1200 hrs from Venice and decided to explore Como First. Fortunately and instantly we could catch a train for Como. Situated around the proximity to Lake Como and surrounded by the series of ALPS has made Como a strong tourist destination. Lake Como, is located 40 kilometres (25 mi) north of Milan; the city proper borders with Switzerland. In the subtropical climate when we reached there it was clouded , drizzling and romantic. Spring and Autumn are the two best seasons and there we were. It was the peak of Spring and we could hit Como. The Lake Como has its own geographical importance and is a natural body .It has an area of 146 square kilometres making it the third-largest lake in Italy. The lake is shaped much like an inverted letter "Y". It is one of the deepest lakes in the entire Europe. Later it became a hub of all aristocrats and rich people since roman and even modern era.It has many villas and residential dens of most famous personas like Matthew Bellamy, John Kerry, Madonna, George Clooney, Gianni Versace, Ronaldinho, Sylvester Stallone, Julian Lennon, and Ben Spies.
Day-2 It was the time to hit the lake and explore the hidden pearls in it. The Lake Como ferry service is a highly developed public transport system linking the many small towns around the Lake. Eurail Passes are accepted for all the ferry rides .There are three kind of services available Motorship which is along the western branch and northern end of the Lake ,Fast services are for the same route, but use faster hydrofoils, stop less , and cost extra and Ferries that run only between the popular mid-lake villages of Menaggio, Bellagio, and Varenna. I thoroughly enjoyed the ferry ride and fun in Como during my Lake Ride. Lakeside Villas are the next most popular tourist attraction which can be easily sighted during the water ride. someof them are Italian garden,Villa d'Este, in Cernobbio, was built in 1568 by Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio and versace house lake como etc. The ferry route is easy and very well connected and will take the visitors from one end to another. covering a route of around 75 km through north to south water routes and reducing it to 35 km and making life very convenient to the citizen of this province is the beauty of this water ferry service in Lake Como. It took a long time for us to completely learn about the geographical and topographical importance of this place.
Day-3 There are beautiful street markets full of variety of cheese, chocolate , salami and house wines. I walked through each shop and picked up a few things along with a memento from Lake Como which will keep reminding me the memories always and every time.It is an amazingly beautiful and a very unusual destination of Italy. Given a chance ...never Skip It!!
