Day 1

It may be long but I hope you'll enjoy reading it...

After seeing tvf tripling and getting obsessed with the idea of doing a road trip, I planned to visit Kausani which is a small hill station in the Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand. Since it was my first road trip on bike in the mountains I asked one of my friend to tag along. After the completion of our 5th semester we planned to leave for our destination from Pantnagar. During December when no one wants to leave their cozy bed and blanket we woke up at around 5:30 in the morning and departed from our hostel. I was totally packed from top to bottom in woolens. It was pitch dark and the surrounding was dead silent. The route I picked up is shown below.

After traveling for 6km we decided to eat breakfast at Lalkuan railway station. The "Pandey Ji" restaurant is famous for it's alloo paratha all over that region. After having a heavy breakfast and tea we were all set to ride again. Soon the first rays of sun came out of those mighty mountains and by the time we reached haldwani. After haldwani the ascend begins and I became extra cautious since it was my first ride in the mountains. After reaching Bhimtal we took another halt and we could experience the significant drop in the temperature. The sparkling sun rays on the beautiful lake was the best thing to observe while we crossed the Bhimtal lake.

After Bhimtal it was a decent ride with a couple of roadblocks which is a common thing to observe in the mountains during landslides. By 10 in the morning we safely reached almora and from there we got the first glimpse of the snow covered peaks of trishul and nanda Devi mountains. The view was so mesmerizing to the eyes. Everything was so surreal. The mountains, the Meadows, the villages and the curves on the road. We couldn't resist ourselves from clicking some pictures.

After leaving Almora I came across one of the best roads in the mountains of all time. It's a treat for every rider to ride on it. The place is almost deserted even being the national highway. The leaves of the chir pine tree covers up the sides of the road. The vegetation is lush green and everything is so fascinating. I wish I could afford to live in there forever. After a sudden elevation and at a distance of 10km from someshwar we reached Kausani. I already made the booking on makemytrip. We booked our stay at Janardan resort which is in way of Baijnath temple. After dropping our backpacks and having some lunch we started exploring the things nearby.

Baijnath Temple is a group of 18 temple built on the banks of Gomati river. This place is reserved by the archaeological survey of India. The temple is very ancient and it's believed that it was built in 12th century. There is a pond adjacent to the temple.

The next spot was Anashakti Ashram. This is a place where father of nation Gandhi ji stayed during the time of 1929. There is a small prayer room inside the ashram and museum of famous hindi poet Sumitranandan Pant.

From the same place you also get the 300 Km panoramic view of Himalayan peaks like Trisul, Nanda Devi and Panchchuli.

After having some snacks on our way we returned back to our hotel. While my partner went back to took a power nap I decided to watch the sunset. The sunset was so glorious that I immediately fell in love with that place again. The last rays were visible on the snow covered peaks of Trishul parvat and the clouds over it. In the night one of the staff member of hotel prepared a little supper for us and after having that we went back to sleep.

Day 2

The next day we woke up at 7:30 in the morning and left the hotel by 8'o' clock. After riding at a descent speed we managed to reach back to Pantnagar by 2 p.m.

My first experience of road trip was one hell of an adventure and also taught me very important lessons of life. It's something that I still find fascinating till date. I also gained some experience around the sharp corners, curves and hair pin bends in the mountains. Road trip gives us a chance to dive into the serene beauty of the nature and feel every single moment we live on the road. As someone said and I would quote 'It's good to have an end to the journey, but it's the journey that matters in the end'.

It wasn't so easy to leave that place, but while riding back I promised myself to plan another road trip to this heaven and for a longer time. If anyone's got query about anything feel free to drop that in the comment section below.
