Imagine– as you safely trace the edge of a mighty mountain, the whispers of a melodious turquoise blue river and the sight of a verdant valley accompany you. You might typically associate this skywalk experience to a foreign land, but guess what? India just got its very own skywalk and it is located at 11,000 ft.!
When a war ravaged between India and China in 1962, a hitherto unknown skywalk, Gartang Gali, in Uttarkashi met its untimely end. 59 years later, however, the bridge has been revamped and reopened for tourists!
Gartang Gali, a 136m long slywalk in Uttarkashi has a new look and is ready to welcome tourists. Doesn't it look stunning?
According to sources, the bridge was built by Pathans from Peshawar and is one of the oldest trading routes in India which was used to trade spices and wool.
