Happiness isn't always around the corner, you need to search the curves and up's and down's to find it. Well,we have all heard this a lot many times. Keeping this our motive, me and my friends hit the road to find true Happiness. And as it is rightly said "The journey towards happiness never fails to amaze you", trust me it never does.It was a casual monsoon day with a little bit of drizzling, with our limited rain gear we all decided to travel to a nearby place, not too far from the city but far enough to disengage us from the city chaos. And what better than a road-trip to the luscious green mountains, high waterfalls and the curves of the road covered with fog!

Days like this, I wanna drive away.

Tahmini Ghat is a beautiful road that connects Mulshi and Tahmini, Maharashtra. The ghat is very well-known for its vibrant scenic beauty. The best time to plan a trip to Tahmini is in the months of monsoon. Tahmini Ghat is one of the famous ghats in the Sahyadri Ranges, which connects Pune to the Konkan region.

How to Reach:

Distance from Pune - 75 kms.

Distance from Mumbai- 160 kms.

You can take a bike ride or a car drive from any of the places to Tahmini. There are MSRTC buses available too.

Take me to places my soul craves for.

If you are an adventurer who loves to ride bikes or drive cars and go places that fill your soul with happiness, this is your next getaway. Not that, if you are a photographer, then you got to capture your heaven here. As the monsoon approaches the climate here is totally altered, with the first shower of the rains tiny green grass starts to peep out from the earth and the barren summer land turns into vibrant green canopy. To add to this beauty are the high waterfalls, flowing from the cracks and creases, onto the road. Turn your heads to any direction and the scenery will never fail to mesmerize you. The water from the waterfalls join the Kundalika river which then forms the Bhira Dam at the base. The backwaters of the dam can be seen while travelling through the ghat. The catchment area of the backwaters is also very large which makes it more pleasing to watch. Fishing is carried out in this dam on a huge scale.

Where to stay-

If you plan for a weekend trip, there are exotic hill top resorts you can halt at. And if you are on a tight budget, don't worry the Home-stays got you. While driving on the road, you can see a lot many resorts, hotels and home-stays where you can rest for a day or two after exploring the 25 km ghat. The halting points are well planned around the waterfalls and view points to give you a perfect holiday experience. Not only this, the warm receiving staff and the finger licking delicious sea food at the hotels is a cherry on the cake.

Travelling through the curves of the road and the scenic beauty, my soul was filled with immense happiness and joy. The water falling from the height and gently kissing my skin, tripping down my body making me wet. Me and my friends played in the waterfall splashing water on each other and dancing to the rhythm of the gushing water. With the cold winds blowing and the rain water drizzling, I was almost shivering out of cold, and this is when we stopped at a road-side stall to have 'Special chai' with 'pakode'. A typical Indian monsoon snack everybody craves for.Sipping our hot tea and munching our crunchy pakodas we all played games. A road-trip like this, I always craved with my friends.
