Melita Koulmandas Hunter arrived in Combodia along with her husband Rory Hunter who was an advertising professional in Phnom Penh. The Australian couple had a strict plan to return to New York within one year but destiny had a different story for them in a mystic island thousand miles away from home.

In 2005 they were the first foreigners who stepped on this island where the wide-eyed locals saw them as harbingers of change and offered them a private island for $15000 (approx 9 lakhs INR).

Melita was diagnosed with cancer just two year after they started Song Saa. But the persistent struggle of the couple, despite the setback, is now seen as the line of 27 beautiful villas in the turquoise waters.

Buy it, live there, cool. Turn it into resort, commercialised it, aweful. Can we say that the ecological system of the island won't be affected. Earth has enough resources for survival of various organisms, but I guess nothing would ever satisfy human desires.
