Day 1

When you really need a break from Bangalore there are many places which comes to your mind from which can help you with a weekend getaway.

We chose to visit Wayanad this time, but by the time we finalized everything we settled down for a resort which is pretty far from the city and is surrounded by nature, yes, i.e. Vythri Village Resort. We had booked a Vythri Escapade package which includes leisure as well as adventure for 2 Nights/ 3 Days.

We left from Bangalore early in the morning at 5, took a halt in Mysore for breakfast and continued towards the resort.

Recommendation : You can leave Bangalore 1 day prior in the evening , have a night stay in Mysore and then leave early in the morning towards resort . En route you can visit Bandipur wildlife Sanctuary as well as BR Hills.

By noon we checked into the resort, had lunch and the afternoon was given to us at leisure. In the evening there were various activities inside the resort arranged for the guests. paintball, Archery, different kinds of Spas, Zip Lining, Stream Walk, 12-D Cinema; And the most interesting part of the resort is that there is a hanging bridge which you need to cross and on the other side they have created an artificial waterfall which is kept on only in the evening for an hour. Later in the evening there was a delightful dinner set up accompanied by a live musical night.

Day 2 was one of the best adventure experiences. Post breakfast the resort vehicle dropped us off 10 km away from the resort where we had to get an adventurous day started.

The resort had a tie-up with an adventure based company "Muddy Boots" who organize all kind of adventure tourism in South India.

Each family is assigned a person who will be along with them the whole day. Before we started off with the trek they gave us long socks to cover our legs to help us protect our legs from the leaches. Then we were made to put on all the gears for the 300m long zip line. This zip line is the longest zip line in Kerala, and they are planning to come up with a longer one than this as well. From that point our trek started. We walked into beautiful tea estates and then into the thick dense forest. We trekked along the stream for about 4hrs. Inside the jungle, over the huge rocks, jumping and slipping was a total paisa wasool. The Muddy boots takes care of you really well, that they were even carrying a bottle of salt water that if by chance any leach gets on our body they can remove it.

After the trek was over it was lunch time and they arranged a vehicle for us and we were sent to a local restaurant for lunch. By 2 pm we were done with the lunch and we were back to the same location. From there they took us for mountain cycling crossing 2 villages by the tea estates. It was an hour long ride.

By this time we were literally tired, and as soon as we came back to the resort a good spa or a Jacuzzi is what is required. The evening was again turned beautiful by the live music and good food.

Day 3

And then we realized that we have to get back to our normal routine. We checked out post breakfast and headed back to Bangalore. And luckily we saw few wild elephants when we were crossing the forest.

All together it was like a real good cup of tea with a little masala of adventure, sweetness of leisure and a slight ginger flavour of the musical nights.
