A trip to Kalimpong and Delo!

Tripoto

Darjeeling and Kalimpong, two hill stations about which I have written umpteen essays in my childhood. Just like a few beaches which becomes family holiday 'repeat' destinations, these two hill stations are frequently visited by us.

The usual route we follow is a bus to Siliguri and a cab from there on that takes 3 hours to travel. Other routes involve by train to New Jalpaiguri Station and a cab from the station.

Delo in Kalimpong is at a height of 5500 ft a little higher than Kalimpong which is only 3000 ft high. Delo stands on the Delo hills and Durpin Hills. This is again a great spot for view of the Kanchendzonga peak.

The Delo resort is a great place to put up providing a beautiful glimpse of the ranges from the room itself. If you are at Kalimpong the Morgan house, I would recommend for the stay. Morgan House is an old British style bungalow which has been rented out for tourism purposes.

Kalimpong main and Delo are only 30 mins apart. On the way expect beautiful sceneries and the river Teesta adding charm dust to it!

There are other monasteries like the Tongsa Gompa and the Tharpa Choling Monastry which attract visitors!
