It was 31st December, 2017 when my dream of going to Andaman islands was finally coming true. I still remember the butterflies in my stomach. We had our flights at 5:am from Kolkata airport. we reached Portblair by 7:am. We were received by the driver of the Serenity Homes, at the airport. reaching the hotel within 30 minutes. Serenity Homes, a small but comfortable hotel for family stay.I booked the hotel from goibibo.com. Moreover that I had also asked the hotel management to prepare us a itinerary for 4 days and do all the required arrangements. They did it very beautifully. The staff was very cooperative and they were perfect on time. cab was on time everyday.

Starting with the trip now, we visited the corbyn cove beach after breakfast, the beach is quiet , a bit dirty, having motor boat rides. after having fun on the beach, drinking coconut water, we went for the cellular jail. On the way, we stopped at a location which was just mesmerizing. the sound of the waves hitting the shore was so relaxing.

Reaching the cellular jail, we see a crowd of people, as the light and sound show was going to start after some time. so we had a less time for visiting the jail completely. after seeing the jail i had goosebumps all over my body. the light and sound show tells about the history of the jail and the freedom fighters . photography is not allowed during the show. After finishing we visited the local market, had dinner in a restaurant. The food cost is bit expensive all over Port Blair.

day 2 began early morning 5 o clock . we left for Havelock, we had reservation in govt. jetty that left port blair at 6:30 am. the journey through Indian Ocean was superb. I got hit with the waves very hard from back , getting wet completely. but the experience was great. reaching the havelock island, we were received by our travel agent , taking us to Radhanagar Beach. it is the most beautiful beach I have ever seen. so clean. the water is so clean that u can see your feet through water. spending the day we left for Port Blair in the evening. You can even stay there one night. But we had a crunch of time, so we didn't stay.

day 3 we left for the North Bay Island. the beach which we see in the 20 rs Indian note. the beach is full of corals, but due to pollution the corals are dying. T. the jetty while going to north bay island , visits the vipers island. the island only has a broken building, which was the hanging room during British era. Rest of the structures were destroyed in the tsunami. I and my father did scuba Diving there, and my mother went for the glass boat . he scuba diving costs around 3500 rs for each for 45 minutes. the glass boat was 1800 rs for 30 minutes. other water activities were also there like sea walking, snorkelling. you can take the pictures and videos of the scuba diving in your pen drive. the local market has all the decoration items, earings and related stuff made of shell, stones.

day 4 - we left for the baratang island at 3am. for the island you need to cross the forest inhabiting the Jarwa tribals. for this you need to take police permission. we reached the police check post at around 4:00-4:30 am. after all the formalities were over the convoy started at 6:00 am in which the police van were at the starting and the end. in between all the tourist vehicles and local buses. there were set of rules which needed to be followed for the protection of tribes . you cant take pictures , you cant imitate, tease them . violation of rules lead to 25000 rs fine plus jail. after crossing the forest we reached the jetty which will take us to Baratang Island.

The Baratang island had one live mud volcano, standing in front of it was so tough because of heat. Then we went for the lime stone cave, for this you need to take a speed boat. the speed boat goes through the marshy areas, reaching a spot from where you need to continue walking. the lime stone cave is a small cave, which was also affected during the tsunami. the call have great structures all over. and you are not allowed to touch the cave. as it leads to blackening of the area.

the Andaman trip ended in 4 days but left a deep impact in me. It has been 2 years since the trip but still the trip is crystal clear in my mind. I would recommend everyone to visit this place once in their lifetime.
