If you're someone who loves monsoon treks, getting drenched in the rain, and walking through the raw beauty of nature, then the Adrai Jungle Trek should be on your list!

I went for this trek during the peak monsoon season in July and trust me—it was a whole vibe. We started our journey from Pune, hopping on an overnight bus that took us straight to the base village – Khireshwar.

By the time we reached, it was early morning. The air smelled fresh, and everything around was soaked and green. After a hot, simple breakfast in the village, we laced up our shoes and began our trek around 6 AM.

The trail is around 10 km (to and fro) and is filled with surprises. Since it was raining almost non-stop, we were soaked right from the beginning—but that’s part of the fun, isn’t it?

The first thrill of the trek came pretty earlya river crossing! The water was up to our knees and cold, but the current was gentle enough to cross safely. Holding hands and helping each other made it feel like a proper team adventure.

Just when we thought the trail might ease up, another stream appeared. This one was smaller but still flowing fast thanks to the rain. We crossed it carefully, laughing at how wet we already were.

As we kept walking, we were surrounded by misty mountains and lush greenery everywhere. It was the kind of trail that made you want to stop every few steps just to take in the views.

Then came spot number three—an absolutely majestic waterfall flowing down the opposite mountain. The sight of it crashing down while hidden behind light fog felt like watching a nature documentary live.

Next, the trail took us deeper through muddy paths, shaded by trees on both sides. We entered a dense forest stretch—it was calm, cool, and full of earthy smells. Walking through it felt like a natural therapy session, a full detox for the mind and soul.

As we moved forward, the forest started to open up, and with every step, the views just kept getting better.

And there comes another massive waterfall welcoming us. To get there, we had to cross another small stream and a cute little side waterfall that made the path feel even more magical.

And finally—we reached. Soaked, muddy, smiling, and totally happy. Nature had welcomed us with open arms.

We sat down near the waterfall, pulled out some snacks, and just soaked in the beauty. Clicked a few pictures (very carefully, of course—it was slippery!). It was one of those moments you want to freeze forever.

And just when we thought the trek had given us everything—it surprised us with the showstopper.

Welcome to Kalu Waterfall—also known as the King of Waterfalls. Standing tall at around 1200 feet, this beauty is tucked deep in the Sahyadri's, and it truly lives up to the hype.

We reached a rocky cliff spot where we could get a full view of the fall. But at first, everything was covered in mist. So, we decided to sit down and wait—soaked, tired, but hopeful.

After about half an hour, the clouds slowly parted, and… BOOM! There it was. The mighty Kalu Waterfall, loud, powerful, and absolutely breathtaking. The force was so wild, the wind literally blew the water upward—it looked like the fall was flowing in reverse. It was a mix of peace and power; all wrapped in one magical sight.

It felt like nature’s way of saying, “Thanks for making it this far.”

Here are a few quick tips if you’re planning to go:

- It’s a moderately difficult trek, perfect for beginners with decent fitness.

- Wear good trekking shoes—non-slippery ones are a must, especially in the monsoon.

- Don’t forget your raincoat, water bottle, snacks, and an extra pair of clothes (you will get drenched).

- Carry a small waterproof bag or pouch to protect your phone and valuables.

We returned back to Pune by 7 PM, tired but completely refreshed, with our hearts full of memories and phones full of muddy shoes and misty waterfall photos.
