Air India is now offering a 50% discount to select categories of flyers. Effective from September 1, 2017, the concessionary fares are available for armed forces personnel, students and senior citizens, and the discount is applicable on basic economy class fares on domestic routes. To avail the discount, tickets need to be purchased at least seven days ahead of the intended travel date.
Tickets can be booked from the Air India website, call centre, or Air India booking offices.
For armed personnel, one should be an active member of the Indian armed forces. The offer extends to their family members as well. For senior citizens, the travellers needs to be 60 years of age on the date of travel. This discount doesn't apply to any of their family members, though.
To avail this offer, students need to be enrolled in a full-time course, for at least an year, and should be between the age group of 12-25. They need to provide the official ID of their educational institute. Also, students can only avail this discount from their hometown to place of study and back, and points between North-East and Kolkata, if they form a part of their journey.
Other than these three categories, a discount is also available to civilians who are recipients of Gallantry Awards and police personnel who are recipients of President's Medal for Gallantry and Police Medal for Gallantry.
