The pious journey to the holy shrine of Lord Shiva that is recalled among the pilgrims as Amarnath Yatra 2017 is announced to begin from 29th June, 2017. Every year, millions of devotees wait desperately for the period that allows them to follow the yatra trek to the holy cave shrine of shri Amarnath ji that lands at an altitude of 14500 ft above sea level on the Himalayas.
This year too, the Amarnath Pilgrimage is opened for the devotees during the month of July and August. During this period, the weather of the region becomes gentler for the pilgrims thereby allowing them to seek blessings of the almighty Lord Shiva through his ‘Ice Shivalinga’ form. This year, 29 June 2017 is announced as the Amarnath Yatra opening date. It is the auspicious day of Skandshasthi on which the pilgrimage door will be opened for the devotees. The yatra will remain in continuation for about two months and receives its conclusion on Shravan Purnima i.e. Raksha Bandhan which is marked on 7th August, 2017.
Following the announcement of the Amarnath Yatra opening date 2017, registrations for the pilgrimage from routes such as Baltal and Pahalgam have started. According to the rules, devotees need to carry a registration or say permit card with them to undertake the yatra trek. Also, pilgrims are essential to submit their respective health certificate while they are applying for registration.
