There was a lesson about Tadoba jungle Safari in our 9th standard text book,so the place was in the wishlist since school days. The childhood dream was about to come true, as we booked tickets for Chandrapur. Tadoba having the highest Tiger Sighting Index(TSI),it was definitely worth the wait. We did 3 jungle safaris and we were lucky to experience wildlife in many different forms. We spotted tiger Matakasur sleeping in the pond, at core area, Moharli gate. It was a thrilling experience to witness Choti Tara's subadult cub face off with a bison. The cub being amateur,ran away from a bison, taking our breaths away. The next safari we did at buffer zone, Devada gate, Adegaon. We sighted tigress Lara with 3 cubs. We still can't get over those spectacular actions of 5 months old cubs, playing in a water pond. It was a blessing,to observe the way tigress was embracing, licking, milking her cubs. We were glued to the spot for almost an hour. As the tigress walked towards the jungle, the little ones followed their mother. Tigress Lara was a epitome of love,care, protection and discipline towards her offspring. Next,we spotted tigress Choti Madhu, sitting near a water pond,far away from us. As the sun went down she started walking towards the jungle. Our talented guide tracked her,on the basis of alarm calls of forest. She calmly crossed our gypsy just a few feets away, making our adrenaline rush. The third safari we did was again at Moharli gate,in a hope to spot the queen of Tadoba, Maya tigress. Unfortunately, Maya was not in a mood to meet us. We spotted bear, deer,sambar, barking deer, spotted deer,owl,peacock, kingfisher & many other birds, crocodile, bison, wild hen, rabbit, monkeys and ghost tree. The incredible biodiversity in the jewel of Vidarbha,safaris beyond imagination,knowledgeable guide, amazing hospitality made our trip memorable.
