An Unforgettable Adventurous Trip to Kerala

Tripoto

Not like the past now I have become completely busy with my daily office schedules. Now it has become 7 months since I have joined the company till now I rarely got leave on the weekends. When I shared my troubles with my best friends they suggested to take a break from the schedule and travel to any of the scenic places in the nation. I decided to go with that option and my friends also appreciated me for taking the wise decision. When I handed over the task of finding the holiday destination to my friends I requested them to find such a place where I could enjoy the scenic nature by indulging in adventurous activities. They asked me a day’s of time and visited me the next day with a list of many places in the south and north India that I have never heard of. Among the several places on the list, I was lured by the name of Kerala. I was familiar that the state is comprised of stupendous natural wonders and has accredited as ‘God’s Own Country’. But never thought it would offer an array of exciting activities. After surfing the important tourist destinations in the state we together decided to plan a trip to Kerala. At first, we discussed the availabilities of holidays in our offices and then prepared the list of the places that must be visited. We seek the service of Dream Holidays as they are the one who is ready to customise the packages.

On the very first day, as we were fond of adventurous activities we selected the tourist destinations in southern Kerala. From Kochi International Airport we first visited the Alleppey district. Due to the presence of backwaters in large number the district is nicknamed as ‘Venice of the East’. We sailed in the houseboats through the backwaters. The voyage gave us one of the outstanding experiences. We enjoyed the beauty of nature by sailing in the houseboats and savoured the traditional food items prepared in Kerala style. As the houseboat is large in size it cannot sail in the narrow places hence we availed of canoes and rowed in the backwaters. Canoes helped us to witness the untouched beauty of emerald nature and also gave an opportunity to interact with local communities. In the evening we witnessed the alluring beauty of the sunset from our houseboats and saw many birds flying to their nest with foods in their mouth.

The second day we moved to Kumarakom. The region is famous for sheltering various types of birds under a single roof. We captured the lovely images of the birds and proceeded to the nearby hill station called Munnar which is situated in Idukki district. The hills of the region are blanketed with classy-green tea meadows. At first, we visited the Devikulam hills. Do you know the reason for the selection? It is because the famous Bollywood movie called ‘Chennai Express’ was cast in the gigantic hills of the Devikulam. Therefore we decided to practise the trekking over there. Trekking to the misty hills of Devikulam gifted us a panoramic view of nearby scenic places. After reaching the top of the mountain we saw that the clouds were speaking to each other and when they saw us as part of welcoming they poured heavy downpours upon us! After trekking, we were so tired that we did not practise any more activities we moved to the resting rooms.

The next day that is the third day we decided to go first with a simple event, therefore, we did boating in the Matttupetty dam. I was so deeply immersed in the boating that I forget all my office stresses and became like a small child and explored the nature as if I was seeing the lush green environment for the first time in my life. That night we decided to stay in a treehouse because it was my lifetime dream to spend some quality time in the midst of the forest. I hardly got sleep in the treehouse but I really enjoyed the voices of nocturnal birds like bats and owls.

On the fourth day after relishing the breakfast from a local shop we moved to Kovalam. The journey from Munnar to Kovalam was too long. It took 7 hours to reach the destination. As we had departed Munnar early in the morning we reached Kovalam by the 2 pm. Soon after lunch we moved to the Kovalam beach. The beach is famous for its soft sand beds and eye-catching attractions. The attractions of the beach are parasailing, snorkelling, surfing, and catamaran rides. We practised the parasailing by tying the rope on our feet and its other end was tied to a boat. At first, we flew high and at the end, we gradually descended and drenched ourselves in the seawater. Followed to it we also did snorkelling. We got ready for the same by wearing the costume and carried a breathing apparatus. Professionally trained guides also accompanied us. Even though I had a little fear to snorkel in deep waters, after seeing the glittering coral reefs and marine organisms all my fear were gone. As underwater photography was permitted in the beach we captured the images of the same and returned back to shore after 20 minutes of exploration.

On the final day of the trip we dedicated for the sightseeing in Thiruvananthapuram and visited the famous Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple as it was included in our tour packages to Kerala. We returned back to our hometown after visiting the temple. In conclusion I must say that our trip carried mainly adventurous sports games and it gave us lifelong memories.
