An Xtended weekend in Pondicherry

2nd Sep 2016

Pondicherry was on my cards ever since I settled down south here in Karaikudi. It was about 300km away but one year went by and it was still in the bucket list.

September 2016. A three day long weekend on Ganesh Chaturthi - I finally convinced myself for the trip.

I started from Karaikudi - my base for the conquest of South on board the Cape-Pondicherry Express on 2 September 2016.

Travelling overnight I reached Pondicherry to be welcomed with a beautiful sunrise. Probably the first sunrise I saw on a beach.

My first day in the union territory was spent visiting the experimental town of Auroville, having a delicious lunch and lazing around the Rock Beach with a friend.

The bright coloured French style building are worth seeing here if you can't afford a trip to France. I spent my second morning trailing this buildings in the White town while I headed to relax at Auro beach in the afternoon. The evening was spent just gazing the works of renowned photographers at Pondy Photo 2016 - a photography exhibition.

I had planned to end my trip by visiting Paradise but it turned a bit adventurous - an unplanned road trip on public transport.
