Group Tour of Angkor, Cambodia
Duration: 7 Days

At the heart of old Khmer culture lies Angkor- the cultural and historic centre of Cambodia. Surrounded by the vast are which, with the passage of time, seems to have been the collective of over 900 temples, have now come to form one of the greatest religious sites in the world.

Thus, the tour will start with the temple complexes of Angkor Wat and the nearby Angkor Thom and the magnificent Bayon ruins. Since I'll be conducting the tours throughout the Siem Reap province, this will take an entire day. The next day we'll visit numerous attractions in Siem Reap, including Preah Khan, Neak Pean, Ta Saom, East Mebon and Kravan. Following this would be visits to Thamamon, Chaosay Tevatha, Ta Keo, Ta Prom, Banteay Kdei, and Sras Srang.

Heading then to the outskirts of the Angkor area, we'll spend an entire day at Kulen mountain (Phnom Kulen). Banteay Srei, with Banteay Samré, will take half a day, sometimes even more, depending on how much time sight-seeeing one wants to spend here. The rest half of the day can be duly spent exploring the realms of Tonle Sap lake. We'll finally head for an excursion to the Roluos group of temples, which wouldn't take more than half a day. And the tour will end with a day's visit to my village.

This tour of Angkor begins with the appreciation and admiration of the grand temple complex of Angkor Wat and the nearby Angkor Thom, including the magnificent Bayon ruin. Very often are travellers seen to explore the enigmas and romanticism of the tree-invaded monastery of Ta Prom. While scholars and historians say its religion was Hindu, we can clearly see the sanskritic dedications to the Hindu deities- Shiva and Vishnu, all over the temple walls. As we step further into its mystery and enchanting walls, you'll notice how each temple in the complex consists of towers pillared around its four corners, significant of their philosophy of a four-sided universe with a mountain at its center.

As we head 24 miles north-east of Siem Reap township, we'll land on the great site of Banteay Srei. It's significantly known to be the finest of all temples in the Siem Reap province. From the carvings and inscriptions on the walls, to the picturesque poses of the ruins, this half a day visit will be one of the highlights of your tour!

A visit to the calm waters of Tonle Sap lake and its luring boat ride are a must to-do in the Siem Reap province. As exciting and exhuberating is the local experience around the lake, you can find much interest in exploring the shifting boundaries of this great central lake. You can even enjoy a visit across the floating villages, fish sanctuary, bird sanctuary and the swampy forests in the region.

This tour would be truly incomplete without a day's stay in a village in the countryside of Siem Reap province. We can arrange for an exclusive day in the vI live in a village in the countryside near Siem Reap. If I have very lives of the friendly locals here. From learning to cook real Cambodian food, to yourself lending a hand in the harvesting of rice, to living with a local in the traditonal Cambodian house, to finally visiting the Buddhist monastic way of life- you can experience it all in just this one day's visit!

A day's visit to the Kulen mountain along with the lake side on it's periphery makes for a good travel day. We can head to a visit to one of the holiest sites too. Here, you can revere in the presence of a gigantic reclining Buddha on the very top of the mountain, whilst looking below onto a sacred waterfall and lake, that mystically stream into the stone floors, constituting the carvings of lingas and yonis.
