Law and order

The Law Commission is a statutory independent body focused on reviewing the country's laws and recommending reforms when necessary. You will have the chance to meet senior staff members and ask them about the English law process and the work the Commission does. You will also be able to visit one of the leading law and human rights charities, where you'll have the opportunity to discuss how the charity works with the legal system.

Another visit involves seeing the inside of one of the capital's largest police stations, where you'll discuss security and terrorism with one of the Met police force's leading experts. You'll also have the opportunity to see the station's custody suite, interview rooms and even the cells, security permitting. Other law and order themed visits include a trip the Crown Prosecution Service, better known as the CPS. You'll learn all about the role of the service and gain invaluable insight into the legal system.

Culture, cameras and crown jewels

London's rich and varied history means there is no shortage of fascinating sights. Take a trip to the Tower of London and see the world famous crown jewels up close. You'll also take in some of the city's more grisly history in the form of a Jack the Ripper walking tour. One of the world's most notorious killers, Jack the Ripper killed women in London's East End in the late 1800s and was never caught. There are still numerous theories about his true identity more than 100 years later. On this gruesome walking tour, you'll see the locations of some of his murders and learn all about the extensive police investigations into his crimes.

Outside of the more structured parts of your itinerary, you'll have plenty of free time to see the sights, take pictures, and eat and drink at some of the city's hot spots. Take a walk along the Thames, explore the winding streets of Soho, or flex your credit card in the shopping hubs of Oxford Street and Regent Street. There is something to see around every corner in London, so wherever you are in the city, you'll never be short of things to do. Student trips to London offer a huge variety of opportunities catering to all interests and tastes.

No matter what your area of study or your specific interests, you'll find a great deal to enhance your academic career on student trips to London.
