Day 1: Aurangabad Bugdet Road Trip

Location: Kalamboli - Ranjangaon Ganpati Temple - Ahmednagar Fort(Bhuikot Kills) - Ajanta Caves(MTDC)

Travel distance: 483kms

Travel time: 9hrs 30mins (roads condition are worst after Aurangabad city.)

Climate: mostly Sunny

Places to visit:

1.Ranjangaon Ganpati temple ( One of the Ashtavinayak temple)

2.Ahmednagar fort a.k.a Bhuikot killa (access to this fort to common public is only on 15th August & 26th January)

3. ChandBibi Mahal

4. Cavalry Tank Museum

Day 2: Aurangabad Budget Road Trip

Location: Ajanta Caves

Climate: Sunny

Ajanta information:

UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Approximate 30 caves.

The Ajanta Caves are generally agreed to have been made in 2 distinct periods.

The paintings in the Ajanta caves predominantly narrate the Jataka Tales.

There is a waterfall which can be seen from the top of the mountain known as Saptakunda ( 7 waterfall ). Where to stay:

Stay at MTDC resort they have good rooms at a reasonable rate and also have dormitory for group traveller.

TIP: There is no ATM near ajanta cave premises so carry cash, as you would be required for the entry fees of the premises and also the caves, shuttle bus charges.

Try to go as early as possible as it takes 3-4hrs to completely explore the place.

Day 3: Aurangabad Budget Road Trip

Location-1 : Daulatabad Fort (Devgiri Kills)

Climate: mostly cloudy

Daulatabad Fort information:

Daulatabad, also known as Devagiri, is a 12th-century fort, about 16 kilometres.

Considered to be one of the 7 wonders of Maharashtra and a developing tourist spot.

The fort had the following specialities:

1.No separate exit from the fort, only one entrance/exit.

2.No parallel gates.

3.Spikes on the gates.

4.Complex arrangement of entryways, curved walls, false doors.

5.Complex arrangement of entryways, curved walls, false doors.

Location-2 : Ellora Caves

Ellora Caves Fort information:

Ellora caves is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Ellora, also called Verul or Elura, is the short form of the ancient name Elapura.

One of the largest rock-cut monastery-temple cave complexes in the world.

There are over 100 caves at the site, all excavated from the basalt cliffs in the Charanandri Hills, 34 of which are open to public.

Location 3 : Bibi ka Maqbara

Bibi ka Maqbara:

Bibi ka Maqbara a.k.a Tomb of the Lady.

Commissioned in 1660 by the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in the memory of his first and chief wife Dilras Banu Begum.

It bears a striking resemblance to the Taj Mahal.

Location : Chhatrapati Shivaji Museum

Chhatrapati Shivaji Museum:

The museum is dedicated to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the great Maratha ruler.

The building has a total of 6 exhibition halls.

TIP: If you are in Aurangabad then you must try the imriti which looks like jalebi.
