If you are looking for an adventurous photoshoot within 100kms of Bangalore, then Avalabetta mountain is one of them. Having seen that Cliff portrait photos of many of my friends, I was so envious to do the photoshoot of my friend Ritu. When I showed the pics of Avalabetta, Ritu equally got excited. So we planned the trip, booked Zoomcar for a one day. Though it's always preferred to have a photoshoot during the early morning or during the evening, but we are helpless due to the restrictions and we have no option but to plan the photoshoot in the afternoon. We started around 9am from my location Indian Institute of Science. We had mainly two options to reach the destination, one via Mehkri circle following airport road, other via Bel circle then Yellanka, then Nandi Hills and then finally joining the airport road. We chose the second option cause it provides scenic views of grapes fields, flower garden with majestic nandi hills in the background. Around 12 we reach the Avalabetta trekking point. The road goes up to the top, but some forest security guards had made a barricade one kilometer before the top most point. They will first tell you that any vehicle is not allowed to go further, but then they will give you hint that if you pay some money, they will allow you to take vehicle to the end. But we still preferred to go via walking cause we want to compose some shots on the way too. Though later while trekking we regret our decision for it was very hot in afternoon. Trek was not that long, it was around one kilometer. We had to stop few times in the shades to catch the breath. In less than half an hour we reached the top of the mountain. There is a temple which makes the top point of the area. We went the top point of the temple, but that was not what we were looking for. We cannot see that famous cliff, so I googled the Avalabetta cliff, it was showing to the other side of temple, where there is some Telecom building kind of. We were just planning to go to that building side, before that I just for fun climb a rock which represents the highest point of temple. When I climbed I saw the famous cliff down but it was on the opposite side of what Google maps were showing, and we decided to descend down to the cliff. Descending was little dangerous but we went very slowly and safely. And we finally reached the cliff, but it was fenced around by barbed wire so that no one can go over there. It was kind of prohibited area. Since no guards were there, so we took the risk and slide ourself through the wires. Finally we were on the famous spot. I took many pics of my friend Ritu. She is also a good photographer, so she also took few pics of mine. We were using a 135mm prime focal length which is quite a zoomed in focal length. That was kind of mistake we made bringing only one prime lens which is so much zoomed in. We wont be able to get more and more mountains in the background. Still we managed to get some awesome pics. When we were done with photoshoot on that famous cliff, we saw a way going down. We felt curious and walked through it. Within 100 meters, we realized we reached to the temple again. In other words we went to the cliff via wrong way but came back via usual easy way. But we had adventure in chosing wrong way. We took more pics around the area. We went to that Telecom building too and took pics over there. We were totally satisfied with trip, we got some awesome photos. We had thrilling descending to the famous cliff. It was one of our memorable photoshoot.
