Also known as the “City of Lakes”, Udaipur is a city located in the state of Rajasthan. Lately, it has become one of the major tourist attractions in India. The best time to visit Udaipur the winter season, during the months of September to February. Udaipur is mainly known for its History, Culture, scenic locations and Rajput-era places.
Even though all types of tourists – from solo travelers to families – can be spotted here, it is one of the safest travel destination for solo female travelers.

• Ways to reach Udaipur :

1) By Air :
The city has its domestic airport, which is 22km away from the city centre.
2) By Train :
The Udaipur railway station is connected with almost all the cities of the country.
3) By Bus :
The bus stand is located inside the city. Both private and public buses run to and fro throughout the day.
(Taking a bus or a train to Udaipur might be preferable if you want to travel on a budget.)

2) Moustache Hostel :
Also located at a 10 minute walking distance from Lake Pichhola, this hostel provides private rooms ranging from INR 900 to INR 1400 per night. Grab a bite in the restaurant, play table tennis and unwind at the terrace with a drink, while taking in the mesmerizing sunset.

3)Zostel :
It is situated near Chanpole bridge, at imli ghat. You can choose from bunk beds in shared rooms or private rooms, with price ranging from INR 270 to INR 1500 per night. It has a rooftop café, providing with killer lake views in the evening.

Sightseeing :

1) Lake Pichhola :
It is an artificial lake located in the heart of Udaipur, and is the oldest and one of the largest lakes of the city. Go for a boat ride in the evening and you can experience the water turning golden with the settling sun’s reflection.

2) Sajjangarh Palace :
It is located at 945m above the sea level, overlooking Pichhola lake. Vehicles are provided from the entry gate to reach at the top, but taking a bike on rent will provide you with the most scenic views and the thrill that you wish for!

3) Fateh Sagar Lake :
It is the famous picnic spot for the people visiting Udaipur. Sit at the banks of the lake, go on boating, indulge in some bird watching and click some amazing pictures during the sunset. During festivals, some events are also organized here.

4) Badi lake :
If you want to have some time away from the tourists all around, visit this lake in the early morning to experience the tranquil beauty of this place. It has an entry ticket of INR 10. Located about 10km from the city, it is a really peaceful place with a calm and serene atmosphere.

5) City Palace :
The timings for visiting this place are from 9:30 am to 5:30pm, during all days of the week. The entry fee is INR 30 per person. If you wish to carry a camera, it will cost you a ticket of INR 200. Boat rides, Light and sound show, and vintage car collection are available in here, each having a separate entry ticket.

6) Vintage Car Museum :
If you are someone who is really into automobiles and vintage cars, this place is a must visit. The entry ticket is INR 250 and its is open all days from 9am to 9pm.

7) Shilpgram :
Shilpgram is a rural arts and crafts setup to promote the traditional arts and crafts of Rajasthan. You can enjoy theatre, dance showcases and the local food. The entry ticket is INR 30.

• Offbeat things to do in Udaipur :

Apart from visiting the major attractions, don’t forget to experience the local life to get the most out of your visit.

• Cover all the parts of the old city on foot to see the street art and graffiti to click some amazing pictures for your Instagram feed!

• Visit the “Under the sun Aquarium”, and involve in feeding the fishes.

• Ditch the expensive restaurants and go local savoring the street food across the city. With a variety of street delicacies, you will find a twist of Rajasthani spices in every dish you eat.

• Volunteer at an animal shelter to feel all the love and warmth that humans can not provide!

• Go for a trek. There a number of trek organizers available in the city, providing with treks in and around the city.

• Take up an art class, go for some Yoga and meditation, watch the cultural dance show or laugh at the cheesy puppet shows organized in the local markets.
